Summer BBQ Grilling Tips for First Time Grill Owners!
Summer BBQ Grilling is an American Pastime for all grill owners. Every year more Americans will find themselves with a grill for the first time.
For most of these grill owners, having a good experience with their grill will lead to summer BBQ grilling more often.
Summer BBQ Grilling | Plan Ahead
Planning your summer BBQ party ahead of time is the key to a good backyard BBQ experience. The type of meats you will be serving to your guests will depend on the size of the BBQ party and the event you are celebrating. With so many meats to choose from you should be able to grill something that will be a crowd pleas-er.
When planning for your Summer BBQ Party it’s a little hard to control mother nature. BBQ grill owners should set up their grill in an area that can shield the grill from a sudden downpour. Check the weather ahead of time to see if your back yard BBQ is going to be affected. You might have to wait for a nicer forecast.
The day before your barbecue party you want to make sure you are prepared. 12 to 24 hours before your summer BBQ grilling party begins make sure that your meat, sauces, marinades and side dishes are well planned out. Thaw out any meats and prepare them with your marinade or favorite rub. Once this is done its time to think about the side dishes.
Most BBQ grilling parties will have your traditional BBQ side dishes. These might include potato salad, baked beans, coleslaw, corn and watermelon. You can prepare these ahead of time and refrigerate until the party is ready. Another option would be to ask your barbecue guests to bring a side dish. Suggest an item to them to avoid duplicate side dishes.
Summer BBQ Grilling | Grill Maintenance
Most first time grill owners don’t understand how important it is to have a properly cleaned grill. Grill maintenance is a necessary part of summer BBQ grilling. Especially if you want really good tasting BBQ.
To clean your grill, you will need some common household items and a brass wire grill brush. First time grill owners should get into the routine of cleaning the surface of the grill with some soapy water and a towel or sponge. Doing this on a regular basis will prevent any build up of food.
Next it’s time to focus on the grill racks. Having a clean grill rack is important as this is where the meat will be touching while it is cooking. To start, use the wire brush to remove any build up of food. If the grill racks are really dirty you can use steel wool pads with a soap mixture to remove any stubborn build up. Make sure to rinse off any soap residue before using the racks again.
This routine maintenance should be done every time before you begin to cook your barbecue. If you don’t, you will find that after some time it will become increasingly difficult to clean and some damage will occur.
Last but not least. You need to protect your grill from the outdoors. Covers can be found in all shapes and sizes. So finding one for your grill won’t be a problem. If you keep your grill covered when not in use all you need to do is the regular cleaning I mentioned above.
