Simple E-mail Marketing Ideas Anyone Can Use

Restored from the Empower Network archive (2011–2017), lightly edited to meet our current advertising standards. Views are the original author’s.

Email marketing a good way to get a hold of customers and gain more customers. There are so many different ways to use e-mail marketing that it can be overwhelming. The article below will help you think about email marketing, and show you the different ways you can apply it to your own business.

Every email you send should have a convenient link that allows them to opt out of receiving further messages. Although less expensive than other forms of communication, email messages have a price tag. If people perceive you as a spammer, it can hurt your business. This may also make people block your email address online, and that’s not good if you’re trying to get your product or service out there.

On your opt-in form on your website, give details about what you will send to subscribers and how often you will send it. Let them know exactly the types of emails they will receive and how often they will receive them. This will help newer subscribers be aware of your frequency and content.

Be sure your email has been proofread multiple times before they are sent. You already know this, of course, but it is tempting to save a few moments by skipping that step. It’s just an email after all, right? Think again! The emails that you send are a vital part of your overall marketing strategy, and you must strive to look professional in order to impress your consumers.

If your business has branded previous customer communications, make sure that your e-mail marketing campaign is consistent with that branding. Use your existing color scheme and logo in every message that is sent. If you have built up a strong reputation, then your emails will be seen in a good light.

Use multi-part coding when you send out marketing with email messages, in order to grab a larger market share. These types of email should include normal and HTML text in order to reach all readers. Subscribers who prefer plain text will opt out of your emails if you do not make the effort to make your messages available in the format they prefer.

Make sure you focus on holidays when you are sending on communications for e-mail marketing. You should have the whole year planned out. Build relevant campaigns with retail holidays like Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas in mind. You should be able to get better sales by marketing a little more when things are slow.

You should always get permission from your customers before you add them to your email list. Very few people like to be hassled with unsolicited messages in their inboxes. Sending email that is unwanted will work against you. Start off with a good relationship by only sending out email that your customers have requested.

Always obtain a customer’s permission before you start sending them emails. When you email your customers without asking them, they may think you are a spammer and not read them. Not only that, but a lot of people will choose to opt-out, which means they will not get anymore emails from you. You also run the risk of violating your ISP policy if you are called a spammer.

Your emails should always include brand logos, as well as color. Since your email subscribers will already associate your brand colors and logos with your business, it’s important that they be included. So when they see these colors and designs in their emails, they’re more likely to not delete any mail you send to them.
