How to Get Quality Backlinks for Your Website

Restored from the Empower Network archive (2011–2017), lightly edited to meet our current advertising standards. Views are the original author’s.

Learning how to get quality backlinks for your website is really important when you are learning SEO. Backlinks are very important to rank up in the search engines.

Backlinks are almost like “votes” for your website, the more you get the better you will rank up in the search engines. The search engines want to see how popular your website is, so they count how many backlinks it has in order to rank them up in the search results.

One thing that search engines don’t like and hate are non relevant backlinks. This means that just because they rank websites according to their backlinks, it doesn’t mean that they count every single backlink. There are several requirements for a backlink to be valid to the search engines.

You need to learn these requirements in order to get good backlinks. This is how to get quality backlinks for your website.

Your backlinks need to meet the following:

• If you’re page is about “dog food” then you should get backlinks only from “dog food” related websites. Or any website about dogs, or food for pets, basically anything related to the “dog food” subject. You wouldn’t want to get a backlink from a website that is about computers and technology; it would be totally not relevant to your site at all! Lol that can actually hurt your page rank in the search engines. Google doesn’t like non-relevant backlinks and they could penalize your site for that, thanks to the new “Penguin Update”.

• Make sure the page, where you are leaving a backlink to your website, is a “do follow” page. Do follow means that page is being crawled by the search engines. Sometimes people make a page a No Follow page, so any backlinks that you leave there won’t be crawled by the search engines. Leaving a backlink in no follow sites is pointless.

• The higher the Page Rank of the website where you are leaving a backlink is, the better it is for your site. Google will rank you better if your website has backlinks from very high page rank sites. Google ranks pages from 1 to 10. Most independent websites can have a page rank of 2 to 4. The highest page rank you can find will be 7 or 8. A backlink from a higher page rank site will always count couple times more than a backlink from a lower page rank.

This is simple information on how to get quality backlinks for your website.

Make sure you take the time to learn and understand what a backlink is and how they can help you rank up in the search engine results very fast. For you to rank up to the number one spot for any keyword search you need to leave more backlinks than the websites going for the same keyword.

The better quality backlinks you get for your page, the faster you will rank up!
