Persistence and painting

Over the last few days, I have been spending a lot of time helping a friend, Paint.

Now, let me confess right up front, a female friend.

A female is just about the only kind of friend that could get me to do painting.

There is just something about painting, especially interior painting, that I just can’t stand.

Here is the unfortunate part for me, I’m very good at it, if you can convince me to do it and my friends know that.

Apparently my friend had the right assets because she did convince me to help. Do it mostly. Painting!

So here is the Reader’s Digest version of the story, about six months ago, she bought a new home.

Now let’s be clear, the home was really nice and was in very good condition or so I thought. Wrong!

The colors where all wrong, she didn’t like the carpet and on and on.

Over the span of about six weeks, she decided that everything must go. Not just one room at a time, like most people but everything.

With the exception of one bathroom, the entire house looks like a war zone. Tomorrow the new floors are coming and obviously, the house is not ready. Panic sets in.

I’m sure that there is a multitude of people who can relate to this situation, Right Guys!

Persistence Lesson

Having lots of time to think, I started to reflect on my business and how this challenge related to the challenges, we face every day.

The word that keeps running thru my mind was: Persistence.

Just like in our businesses, many times it is persistence that gets us there.

The ability to face challenges head on and stick to a plan of action is all we may have to go forward.

Persistence Results

The entire baseboard has a fresh coat of paint and color.

We are ready for the new flooring to go down on Monday.

The color of 75% of the walls has been changed, two smaller rooms to go.

I have a new found respect for Persistence and how it relates to our businesses.
