Why loose weight…?

There are many reasons, these days, that we can pick and choose from. We might be motivated to do a lot of weight or just shed a few, as one might put it. Whether we need to loose a lot or just a few extra pounds leads us to the question of how to go about this challenge. What motivates us is and important factor. When we decide that now is the time to take on the challenge and get back on track and get started on your quest to feel better and be able to live a life that is inspired, healthy and fit, we start putting together our plan.

For most, motivation is the main issue. What has brought us to this point and why do we want to take on the challenge. When we decide that now is the time to begin we are faced with a multitude of reasons to get us motivated to get started. The reasons read something like this: I want to impress my coworkers or make the best first impression at a job interview. I want to look really “hot” so I may interest my perfect partner to take interest in me or to look really good when I wear my bathing suit at the beach. To look great when I go to the gym, the market, or just going about town.

Hello… am I missing something here? You bet I am. You have listed everything and every reason than the one that is most important of them all. You thought of and listed every reason and person but the one most important, that being yourself. Wow, is that true? For me, looking and feeling good about myself is so very important to motivation and self image and in the long-run, you are the only reason for loosing weight and learning how to make it a life change, not just to get into the sexy little number you’ve been looking at for a while now. Getting into that sexy little number is a great motivator, but doing this for you and how you feel inside when you face yourself every morning, when you step out of the shower should be your ultimate reason every morning. As for the other reasons, these are secondary to the way you feel about you. Everything else that follows is like icing on the cake and doesn’t that feel good.

Loosing weight should come from the heart and employ your self-esteem and how I want to feel about myself. Why we loose weight is so important. We learn to read because reading is stimulating and makes out lives richer, not to hear some one say, “Boy she sure can read!” We learn to drive a car for our own mobility and freedom, not to hear people say, “Just look at the way she drives that car!” We all do these things for our own enrichment and growth. Why should weight loss be any different?

Your motivation should go like this: I want to loose weight and get in shape because I love myself and my body more when I do it. I would like feeling healthy and strong. I enjoy everything, in life, more as I better myself through weight loss and exercise. This is something that I can do now and continue to do through out my life. This I can feel really great about. Why do you want to do these things for yourself? Because you are worth I and you know better than anyone else around how wonderful this makes you feel. Then if you find that perfect dress, that super guy or a great interview, it will mean more to you and you’ll never have to say to anyone else, “See, I told you I could do it. Love yourselves, your own power and empowerment. You go for it, you are worth it.
