If you plan on being successful in any type of business enterprise, whether you are working for a major corporation or are self-employed, You must operate on these principles.
Business Success Princple #1
Be Good at what you do . That means constant and never-ending improvement. Treat your work like a form of skill training. Never believe that you are as good as you can get.
Each day each year, strive to master your work. No matter what you do, if you become one of the best in yor field , you will do well (if you also pay attention to the second business success principle)
Business Success Principle #2
Be Good at promoting what you do. There is no telling how many exceptionally gifted people exist in every field who aren’t successful because they aren’t willing to go out and promote themselves. I know extremely talented musicians whose songs will never be heard by more than a few people, while the music charts will be filled with a bunch of forgettable music that was promoted well.
Unfortunately those who are most dedicated to their craft, and most love what they do, fail to grasp the need to promote themselves.
Now Ask Yourself: Am I good at what I do? Do I provide value to the marketplace? If the answer is “No” then stay out of sight and work at improving what you do.
But if the answer is “Yes” then get your megaphone out and blow your horn. You cant help anyone if they dont know you exist..
Whether or not you have an interest in promotion and marketing, it has to be at least half of your job, your energy, and your attention at the beginning stages of a new venture.
Promoting helps you help others and provide a valuable service in the worls as only you can do.
