His Eye Is On The Sparrow
Have you ever felt so burdened by the cares and troubles that come your way that you really begin to feel all alone, lonely, and discouraged?
.
This little song comes to my mind, “His Eye Is On The Sparrow“, and is of great comfort to me. Just to sing the little chorus is uplifting.

The song is based on the following scriptures:
“Look at the birds of the air; they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?” (Matthew 6:26)
and
“Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father. But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows” (Matthew 10:29–31).
Civilla Martin, who wrote the lyrics, said that as she and her husband were visiting a Christian couple, the wife who had been bedridden for 20 years, and the husband cripple. Despite their afflictions, she wondered how they could be so comforted and live such inspiring lives.
Mrs. Doolittle’s reply was simple: “His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.” The beauty of this simple expression of boundless faith gripped their hearts, and through their experience with the couple, Civilla was inspired to produce the tune.
Sometimes it is not the great things we do in life, but the simple things, and staying in the present moment with gratitude that produces our greatest strength and hope.
During these times… it may all you can do to just breath…
and every other breath whisper, “Abba Father, or Jesus.”
“As one whom His mother comforteth, so will I comfort you.” Isa. 66:13
Be comforted that His eye is on the sparrow, and “know that He watches me”…
Blessings,

Doris
