Wake Up Call! It’s Time to Get Unreasonable and Ridiculous!!

I wrote a post awhile back and I talked about how those who had the ability to make a lot of money (seemingly on demand) have an “unreasonable and ridiculous belief in themselves”.

Honestly I’ve realized through my 15 years of business ownership, the reason why people succeed and why people hold back from going after their dreams…

…is belief!

• -Belief that they can do it.
• -Belief they’re smart enough.
• -Belief that they can follow through.
• -Belief that they live in an abundant world and there’s more than enough for them!
• -Belief that there’s really no such thing as ‘competition’ when you have a vision and set an intention to accomplish it!
• -Belief that they’ll be able to ‘live the dream’.
• -Belief that they can accomplish it NOW…not sometime in the future way, WAY down the road!

I Had a ‘Wake Up Call’ (quick story)

Two years ago everything was running like “clock work”, smooth as silk as they say.

In May 2004 I ‘stumbled upon’ a ground floor opportunity and landed a once in a life time contract with a “little” company called FedEx Ground and my life changed on a dime!

Literally, my wife and I went from putting our rent on credit cards to moving into our first home and out of the 2 bedroom apartment we lived in for 8 years with our 3 kids.

For the first time in our married life our future was bright and I believed my future was going to be dedicated to building my FedEx franchise to full capacity, retiring early and fulfill the vision we had for our family.

We made a commitment years back to home school our children which ment my wife would become a full time domestic engineer, aka (a stay at home mom!) and my FedEx business was the vehicle that would give us the freedom to accomplish all that we wanted to accomplish with our family.

Honestly, my FedEx business gave me significance but by no means was it perfect and frankly it was a battle to increase my income over the years to be able to keep up with the growth of my family (I have 8 children) and the hours were unreal, 60-70 hours a week!

Despite all the “cons”, I was making more money than I ever had before and my wife and I were really making head-way and paying down the debt we owed from my previous business failures…

…and then I had my ‘Wake Up Call’!!

I wrote about it in a recent post and like anything that will add value to another persons life…it’s worth repeating!

A little over 8 months ago now, I got started in online affiliate marketing (literally starting from zero) and I honestly worked like my hair was on fire, because I had a big “WHY”!

Truthfully, there were 2 huge reasons why I needed to create another income stream!

1) I knew my FedEx delivery franchise was coming to an abrupt end after 8 years of owning the business, due to corporate changes beyond my control.

2) Two years before I was forced to sell my FedEx business, I almost lost it because I unexpectedly became sick with a nasty virus that kept me sick for months.

Honestly I thought I was dying because it took the Doc’s awhile to figure out what was going on!

Well the good news is it wasn’t a life-threatening sickness but that experience SLAPPED me into reality! The reality that I can lose it all tomorrow because the truth was, I didn’t have a“back-up plan” or a “safety-net” to gently fall into if the rug got suddenly pulled out from under me!

Have you ever been there?

So my vision and purpose was NEVER to let a situation like that control my life again.

My intention 8 months ago was to create an income that would keep coming in even without my personal involvement and to create a situation where if I lost a stream of income it wouldn’t be DISASTROUS!

Here’s what I’ll tell you and I’m going to really honest.

I had to sell my business back in June 2012 in order to slow down the downward slide I was on. In reality I had been on the “slippery slope” for a few years and once I started gaining speed there wasn’t a whole lot I could do to stop it! I just kinda had to ride it out and contain the damage along the way.

Now that I’m on the other side of pretty much losing it all I’m actually optimistic! As a matter of fact it’s a ridiculous optimism, an unreasonable amount belief that I’m going to create a future for my family that’s brighter and more fulfilling than I ever was able to create in the past!

Why?

• Because I made the decision to believe I could do it!
• I realized that no one is holding me back…except ME!
• I believed I could delete the self-imposed limiting beliefs and download a self-empowering mind-set in an instant!
• I chose to believe I could step into a “powerful” ME and that I could make the decision to do it in this very moment; that I could do it NOW and I didn’t have to wait for something to “change” inside me!
• I decided to believe that I live in an abundant world and there’s more than enough to go around!
• I made a decision to follow through instead of falling short and I will do whatever it takes to “Live My Dreams”

Pretty unreasonable and ridiculous isn’t it?

As crazy as it sounds I’m actually thankful for my “wake up call”, not that the experience was enjoyable, but because it led me to a decision! Instead of looking at it as a failure in my life I look at it as feed-back. Feed-back in my life as to where I need to get better, what I need to adjust and what I need to do to equip myself to create the future I want for myself and my family!
