Tips on How to be Comfortable Being Uncomfortable

Restored from the Empower Network archive (2011–2017), lightly edited to meet our current advertising standards. Views are the original author’s.

I know getting comfortable being uncomfortable is easier said than done!

This is actually when we grow beyond what we are now. This can feel like drinking from a fire hose!

In this post I want to share some experiences that I had that allows me to go there.

Example Stepping out with action:

In the first year that I was running my home business.  I was a part of a group called the Superwomen, we were all like minded online marketers.  The leader of the group, Layla Black, put it out to the group for a few ladies to step up and lead the upcoming Event Luncheons.

Now I would typically not say a word and just let someone else step up.  This time I knew that by doing this would to several things for me and my business, good and scary.  So I shot a video explaining why I wanted to lead one of the luncheons and sent it over to Layla.

Needless to say I was stunned to find out that I was chosen to lead the Anaheim Luncheon. Next we put a team together and by working closely with the team, I found the personalities and skills that worked best with each task, like photographer, checking people in….

It was a wonderful experience and when it came to talking in front of all the ladies, I found that I encouraged the others by me being the wildflower doing videos for my marketing. Now I am much more comfortable speaking to others and not talking myself out of doing more things. 🙂

Example with learning something New and coming up with money:

This was when I got interested in Real Estate Investing, I think it is fascinating being able to help people with problem properties get matched up with people that need those properties and getting paid for it!

Signed up for a 2 hr presentation and wanted to learn more!!  Had no idea how many strategies people had to choose from.  So I signed up for a 3 day seminar to give me more of an idea of the different strategies out there and how people can benefit from each.

At the 3 day event is when it felt like I was drinking from a fire hose!!  Realized that I needed to stretch and get specific classes/training and a mentor to learn from.  Remind you that I had no idea where and how I was going to come up with the money to get this education!

Well I did have some mutual funds that were just recovering from the market crash of 2007 and this my perfect use for it.  Mainly because I value my education more that the 3% the mutual fund was giving me so that’s where I found it!  Scary as it felt to take out that nest egg money.  I chose to stretch knowing that it was worth doing it to help me grow into an area that prepares me to help others in another way.

What is the last thing you did for you and had to stretch to do it?

Well that is a few examples from my own life journey and I do hope it helps you to stretch out of your comfort zone and grow!
