Aubrey Graham AKA “Drake” A Week In  Review

I decided to do a review on the Rapper /Actor / Face of The Toronto Raptor  “DRAKE”.

Wow what a week, Drake is now the ambassador for the Toronto Raptors and now Toronto will host the 2016 NBA All Star Game. Personally, I don’t know if Drake being appointed as the Toronto Raptor’s ambassador is necessarily a good or bad thing. Yes, his image is clean, but he’s associated with Hip Hop’s Blood member Lil Wayne and the Cash Money Crew.

Drake is in no way, shape or form a street kid nor does he know how the HOOD works. Drake is/was an actor. So for the Toronto Raptors to appoint him as ambassador, we will have to see how this arrangement works out. You may be reading this and saying what do you have against Drake? Answer… nothing. I know they will use his hype and fame to get what they can out of this ‘partnership’ and I hope it doesn’t blow up in their corporate faces. Look at how Justin Beiber turned out. Remember the hype surrounding him and now he’s out of control. The last time I saw him in Toronto he was spitting off a balcony at his fans. Yes, he spat on his ‘loyal’ fans. What I have seen with a lot of these young artists is that the more famous they get the more out of control they become. If this happens with Drake how will this affect the Raptors? His association with Cash Money and YMCMB probably won’t help. You can’t say this isn’t a strong possibility. Anything can happen. When you get a taste of ‘fame’ it’s hard to come back down to reality. Would this make the Raptors and The City of Toronto look like the laughing stock of the NBA? Most NBA players do not want to come to Canada already. You can tell because they leave as soon as they get the chance.

I just think that putting an artist out there to represent your team/ company is a bad idea. For example, look at the corporate back lash Rick Ross received for his “molly” lyric on this track, You Don’t Even Know It by Rocko Feat. Future and Rick Ross. The NBA, the Raptors, etc. they are a business and Drake may sell a few more seats, but he is still new and I think that the Raptors are taking a big chance with this deal. I wonder what he is getting paid for this. Just something to make you go HMMM…

The Raptors and The NBA are businesses who hold their players to high professional standards and I hope that they will do the same to Drake and his crew.

Drake CD Review “Nothing Was The Same”

Today I took the time to listen to his latest CD and yes, I love it. It’s hot! Get it if you don’t have it yet. The kid is very talented. On one particular track, I heard him taking a lot of shots at one Toronto artist that did not respect him during his rise to fame. I’m assuming the artist he’s taking jabs at is Kardinal Offishall. Why? Listen to Drake’s song, “Worst Behavior” and you’ll hear exactly what I’m talking about. Leave your comments. Listen to the “Dun know” lyric – LOL – what artist from the T-Dot do you know always says the phrase, ‘’yuh dun know?”

I remember Drake before he became DRAKE. He was on ET just starting out as a rapper with no street credit. I remember the comments people made about how he was soft and whack. Then, he moved to the States, like many other Canadian artists, and blew up – BIG TIME!
