Serious Email Marketers Use These Great Tips And Tricks

Restored from the Empower Network archive (2011–2017), lightly edited to meet our current advertising standards. Views are the original author’s.

TIP! You should send out your newsletter regularly, based on your target audience’s typical schedule. Business-related newsletters are best mailed during working days, such as Tuesday or Wednesday.

Using an e-mail marketing strategy is a method that hasn’t gotten old. Even though email marketing has been used for some time now, it hasn’t gotten old. New strategies and techniques are always evolving and they can keep your marketing via email efforts fresh and effective. Use these tips to make email marketing a fun and exciting venture for your business.

TIP! Use a double opt-in procedure that will ensure that your subscribers really desire your emails. This may seem like a lot, but it guarantees that the person is interested in receiving emails, so it eliminates the chances that you or your email service provider gets into any trouble.

Use a call to action in your emails. This tells your recipients directly in the email what they should do. If you use links, include instructions on what to do with them. It’s sometimes good to repeat your call to action more than once in an email. You might include it once in the header and once at the end of the email, for example.

TIP! It is important to be sure to use a strong title. Make sure you remember that your subject line is the first content your customers will read when they see your email in their inbox, so make it memorable.

Always include an “unsubscribe” link in your emails, preferably in a prominent place. Put your link to unsubscribe in a place that is easily visible and be sure it is a part of every email. Your reader must feel like it is their own personal choice, whether they continue to receive your emails or not.

TIP! All emails should be proofread before they are sent out. The content of your emails, from subject to footer, must be typo-free and properly written.

Stick to one subject per message and don’t meander. With a deluge of information in your email, you can create an overwhelmed or bored reader, very easily. Create a message, keep it short and make your point. Your customers will be happy that they’re not being bombarded with too much information.

Email Address

TIP! Use the subscription information that you have to personalize your customer’s shopping time. When a subscriber clicks through to your website through an email, auto-fill the fields of purchasing forms with their information.

Include two email fields on your email opt-in forms. Many times people have typos the initial time they put in an email address. This double-confirmation process greatly increases the chance that the email address will be valid, and your messages will get through.

TIP! Your email marketing campaign should be closely linked to your SMS marketing. You will be able to convey more information to your audience and remind them via SMS of something they read about in your emails.

Protect yourself by including a confirmation that customers wish to receive your emails. By doing so, you are less likely to be listed as spam. Would-be subscribers should receive an email that requires they click on a link to accept their subscription immediately after signing up. The message should contain links for both confirmation, and one to deny future messages. Your subscribers will like the extra security measure, and you will have extra proof that you are not spamming your email recipients.

TIP! When it comes to holidays and other special events during the year, you should focus your email marketing campaign. Plan out your entire year.

Give everyone on your mailing list the option to unsubscribe easily and instantly. Email messages do take time to delete if people don’t want them and they may not appreciate having to do that. Besides that, leaving users without an easy way to remove themselves from your list may cause them to label and report your messages as spam, which can be damaging to your reputation and can result in penalties or blacklisting of your domain.

TIP! It is important that you obtain subscriber consent before you begin emailing them. If you’re sending out emails that are considered as spam, people may not take you very serious.

Avoid sending out important marketing messages too close to major holidays. People are often out of their office or on vacation during these times, and so they won’t read your emails. There are always exceptions, though! Black Friday, for example, is one occasion where a date relevant campaign is warranted.

Active Feedback

TIP! Have a confirmation when customers opt-in to your emails. This gives people a chance to voice their desire for receiving emails and avoids problems with unhappy recipients.

Enhance your campaigns in e-mail marketing with both passive and active feedback. Active feedback is rather obvious: ask for opinions and suggestions from your readers. Passive feedback is generally not seen by the readers. There are dozens of resources available to see which of your links are getting clicks.

TIP! Do not limit your email messages to a simple sales pitch. Try to include valuable information, such as a newsletter, or industry news that your customers may find interesting.

Before getting involved in an email promoting effort, you must obtain permission to email each person on your list. If you do not, people will complain of spam and you may lose customers.

TIP! Subscribe to the marketing campaigns of your competition. If you join their email list, track them with ease.

Your subject lines should be short and sweet. Short (60 characters of less) subject lines prompt recipients to open the message more often than really long subject lines that don’t seem to have a point. If you’re having trouble keeping your subject line concise, start it off with the most significant words to ensure that they don’t get cut off when the email reaches a customer’s inbox.

TIP! Your email messages must be attention-grabbing in order to be successful. This could involve some trial and error on your part.

Brand your emails by using your logo, color palette and a similar layout to your website. You want to be consistent because your subscribers are familiar with what your website looks like so they already associate the design, colors and logo you have with you. By being consistent in making your emails match your site, they will look familiar and be less likely to get deleted.

TIP! Never send out unsolicited marketing emails. Messages sent to recipients who did not request them are at risk of being marked as spam.

You should always ask for permission before you add someone to your mailing list. People consider emails that they didn’t sign up for as spam so they generally just throw these messages away and don’t bother reading them. Sending emails to people who have not given you permission to do so may also violate the policies of your ISP.

TIP! Consider constructing email marketing messages sans images. Images can definitely enhance your copy, but they can take a while to load if the recipient is on dial-up, and many people disable images in email for security reasons.

E-mail marketing might be old, but it still has lots of profit potential. Use this advice and always be aware of new and innovative ways to enhance your email campaigns. This method of marketing will surely be worth the effort for a long time to come.
