How To Fix Posture For Internet Marketers – Back Posture Correction

Restored from the Empower Network archive (2011–2017), lightly edited to meet our current advertising standards. Views are the original author’s.

This morning while doing my daily tasks, I ran into a guy in the forums with a link to a website on correcting back posture.

This is something that many internet marketers, including myself, don’t take serious enough. Here’s a video detailing how to fix your posture when you’re at your computer.

Now as I was watching this video, I was leaning forward with my feet curled all the way back. Sounds weird when I explain it like that….

…But case and point, it was the wrong way to sit.

We as internet marketers have a great responsibility like no other.

We have to discipline ourselves while working from the comfort of our home. We want and should expect the best out of life but it would suck getting there and developing sciatica.

The definition of Sciatica according to Wikipedia, is:

a set of symptoms including pain that may be caused by general compression or irritation of one of five spinal nerve roots that give rise to each sciatic nerve, or by compression or irritation of the left or right or both sciatic nerves. The pain is felt in the lower back, buttock, or various parts of the leg and foot. In addition to pain, which is sometimes severe, there may be numbness, muscular weakness, pins and needles or tingling and difficulty in moving or controlling the leg. Typically, the symptoms are only felt on one side of the body. Pain can be severe in prolonged exposure to cold weather.

In other words, you need to take this a lot more seriously. I don’t want to work hard for 5 years then fall apart when I get where I’m going.

What Brought About This

I started researching how to fix my back posture after reading this article titled 3 Daily Activities that Aggravate Sciatica Pain written by a young man named Jake Johnson.

In his article, Jack stated:

Sitting at a Computer for Long Periods of Time: Many Americans sit at the computer for their job, which means that they could be sitting in the same position for up to ten hours, along with a few bathroom and food breaks.

Let me tell you…

Poor posture is one of the key contributing factors to sciatica pain. If you have poor posture throughout the day, you are sure to have pain sooner rather than later.

The posture of the average person sitting at the computer is usually not a pretty site. The shoulders are hunched forward, neck is extended, the lower back is rounded and in a bad position, knees are turned in; I could go on and on.

And this is one of the main reasons people have so much pain; specifically sciatica.

Add that to sitting on a hard chair and you have yourself a recipe for disaster.

I didn’t even know what sciatica was at first but thanks to Jake Johnson, 10 minutes later, I’ve fully educated myself on the subject.

Now I know what sciatica is,  how it’s created and how to fight it before it’s too late.

As I type this, I’m still having to correct my back posture because my body is so use to sitting the incorrect way.

This is going to be hard but totally worth it.

To having great back posture
