Love’s first kiss

Sometimes it pays to be a geek.

I’d be willing to bet that I am in the minority of people out there who actually have a photograph that documents the first time they kissed their wife.

I thought it appropriate, as February 14th is here, to share this short little bit of my life on this blog.  A man has to get mileage out of the romantic moments that he has been able to help create during this romantic season of the year after all and I am certainly not above reminding my wife of our humble, yet hyper-romantic beginnings.

Especially not when I was able to turn them into Kodak moments!

Hey, just be thankful I’m not boasting about once sporting a mullet.

It was the fall of 1989 and we were taking advantage of a beautiful fall afternoon to wander in a nearby park amongst the colorful glory of autumn.  I had brought my camera along as I usually do and I wanted to take some photos with Amy whom I had found to be much more fascinating than my homework.

I got a number of nice shots that day but the most important shot I got was the one you see at the bottom of the page.  I had a brainstorm as we were winding things down and piped up with my brilliant idea- “Hey, I know- let’s do a silhouette!  I think I can make it work right here.  You just sit right here and I’ll go set the timer.  Trust me on this- it’ll be cool.”

Anyway, the rest is history.  We got close, the shutter snapped, quiet words were exchanged and…there you have it.

So, all you good men out there desperate for a romantic idea that you can use for years to come- you see what I did there- you now have one!

“Wow, honey, they really should have put us on the poster for that ‘Notebook’ movie!”

“You’re right, they do look good together, but I’ll bet they don’t have a picture of their first kiss.”

Anyway…

Best part of this story is- it’s not done yet.

I love you Amy.  Happy Valentine’s Day to my most wonderful partner and friend!
