How does this count as link building? When you help people, this will make a lasting impression. People will not mind linking to you, if you are supporting them with good intentions. You do not have to have a motive to do everything.

You can not only position yourself as an expert and show those who don’t know that you really know your stuff, but it’s also a great way to increase brand awareness. There will also be those people who find the pieces on their own and bring it to the notice of others. They might actually link to you to do it!
