Go For No!

“Go for no” is a great book written by Richard Fenton & Andrea Waltz.

A friend of mine gave me the book and it took me a while to get to it because I am very specific about what I read and have found you just can’t read every book someone places in your hand.

A couple months after having the book sit in my To be read pile I made my way to it. I was wrong in not reading it as soon as I got it. The book had many great lessons I will share a few and then you will have to pick up your own copy you can get it !

The goal of this book is to re-frame your thought process on success and the chapter that really made a shift for me was the Failure/Success model. In this chapter they gave a really good perspective on how most believe in success and failure.

Most people think success is on one side and failure is on the other and we want to stay as far away from failure as possible which keeps people from taking the necessary risk to become more successful. In this model it looks like this:

SUCCESS<<<<<<<<<ME>>>>>>>>>>>FAILURE

Here was the paradigm shift failure is actually on the way to success and “is a destination to not be avoided but rather a stepping stone to get what you really want in life”

In this model it looks like this:

ME>>>>>>>>>FAILURE>>>>>>>>SUCCESS

We have to realize if we are going to do anything great failure is going to be a part of it. I could go on and on with my countless failures but I resolved a long time ago I am not going to be concerned with what my path to success looks like to others I just have to keep striving to live my purpose no matter what.

The book went on to talk about the five levels of failure and it was a real eye opener check them out to see how they line up with your viewpoint.

The Five Failure Levels

1. The ability to fail- what keeps most on this level is their intense desire to avoid any form of failure at all cost.

2. The willingness to fail- means you come to accept failure as natural process of seeking success ….fewer than 20% of all people make it to this level

3. The wantingness to fail- this goes beyond willingness to fail this means developing the desire to fail with the inner faith that personal and financial growth will follow…..fewer than 5% get to this level

4. Failing bigger and faster- This level is for those who have come to the conclusion that if failing is good failing faster is better with going after big goals that are worthy of the effort.

5. Failing Exponentially- for those who understand massive success requires multiplication of effort. These people enlist others to fail with them knowing that group failure equals group success.

There are many other great nuggets inside this book that make it well worth investing in. So what are you waiting on make a move on something that you have had a fear of doing because of failure. I believe this “I have never lost a dime in business I have just paid a lot of tuition.” Get out there try something you are only going to learn.
