If there was one thing you could learn to be successful that would absolutely change your results would you want to know it? If there was one big secret to success and you could apply it right away would you do it? What if I could share with you that there is unequivocally one thing that makes the difference between success and failure? Guess what? There is.
Several years ago I was training at an event in California with my friend Jeffrey Combs. Jeff and I were on hand to train a group of motivated people, who came from various professional backgrounds, yet had one thing in common; these people all had a direct sales or network marketing business. When Jeff asked the audience ‘who feels stuck’ the result was almost one hundred percent of the room putting up their hand. When I took the stage and asked who wanted to become millionaires, again everyone put up their hand.
Like the majority of people all over the world, many people want to be millionaires and yet they feel stuck. Does this sound familiar? Why do you think that only about 7% of American households and around 3% of Canadian households have annual incomes of over one million dollars before taxes? The answer is simply because people are so much in their head about why they are stuck that they are not doing what it takes to become prosperous. The mission of my company is to teach people that anything is possible and this is why I am going to share the number one secret to making a fortune – DISCIPLINE.
Very few people have enough discipline to achieve success. Look at any great athlete such as Tiger Woods who was practicing golf strokes from the time he was three to Michael Jordan who repetitiously shot hoops to Wayne Gretzky who diligently practiced his shots on goal and you get the picture. Many people can be successful in free enterprise and yet few have enough discipline to create results.
I have called thousands of people. I have done thousands of three way calls. When I was fourteen years old my dad hired me to telemarket and I was paid per dial. I made thousands of calls. In my teens I worked in retail talking to countless customers every day. In my twenties I sold gym memberships and personal training packages connecting with dozens of people on a daily basis.
You get the idea; repetition helped me become good at the art of selling. I was disciplined enough to go through enough practice that eventually connecting people with products and services to enrich their lives became effortless.
Being successful isn’t easy. The majority of lottery winners lose all of the money they win. People are not prepared for success because they haven’t ever developed discipline. Free enterprise isn’t easy. It takes work and repetition. There are going to be days when it feels hard and not everyone is going to say ‘yes.’ I have had many people say ‘no’ and my share of challenging days, however I have found that the more numbers you do the better you get at handling rejection.
If you truly want to be successful you are going to have to create some excellent habits. You are going to have to learn to focus on your actions, your activities and your results and let go of comparing yourself to what anyone else is doing. That is why Warren Buffet is so successful, he has great habits, discipline to hold onto stocks and not ride the emotions of the stock market. Ultimately like Warren Buffet you have going to have to create enough discipline that when everyone is telling you to stop dreaming and people are saying ‘no’ to you that you stay focused.
The ultimate secret to being successful is repetition and discipline. The more people you connect with the better you get. If you are stuck then you aren’t connecting with enough people to get comfortable in the process of being successful. My suggestion is that you take action and commit to sharing your opportunity with three people every day which will be over one thousand for a year. If you are successful only 10% of the time you will still recruit 100 people. That is not the only ‘win’ you will have. By connecting with one thousand people you will get better and better at achieving daily discipline.
You will never become a sustaining millionaire without discipline and like Wayne Gretzky says, ‘you miss one hundred percent of the shots you do not take.’ My question is this – what have you done today to build your business?
Lastly know that no matter what has happened in the past, you can always create more discipline in your life. It is never too late to develop new habits and increase your focus. I encourage you to go for it like never before and make a decision to take your life and your business to the next level.
