US Government Shutdown
We’re not going to get into politics here but just report the facts as known and then talka about why it doesn’t affect us or our friends and fellow entrepreneurs and how we may be able to help you to0.
So here’s what happened …..The US government shutdown at 12:01 a.m. ET Tuesday after lawmakers in the House and the Senate could not agree on a spending bill to fund the government.
Without going into details and discussing the egos of the politicians and the parties involved, the long and short of it is that many employees (people) are going to be “furloughed” as a result of the US Government shutdown and that means tough times ahead for many who are already enduring hardships already – close to 800,000 according to a report on CNN.

Here’s the thing …. governments all over the world are having problems meeting their financial commitments (it’s no different here in the UK where we live) and they have to do stuff that is at the end of the day going to affect every single one of us.
What worries us though is the loss of jobs worldwide. Not just because of the US Government Shutdown but everywhere. We have most of us gone through losing a job / being made redundant at some point in our lives. Both Chris and I have gone through that.
It’s why we decided many years ago to work for ourselves but in reality, our self employment as management accountants and accountants was actually no more than a job. Yes we were earning a good income but because of the vagaries of the economy we were just as likely to lose a client and a major part of our income as if we were employed and receiving a salary.
It’s why just over 3 years ago that we decided that we had to change all of this and started investigating a way of doing that which ultimately lead us to building a business online.

Let’s explain ….
If you are fed up with working the 9-5 until you reach retirement (which used to be 65 in the UK /USA but now could be anything depending on what legislation gets passed) with the hope of a good retirement package then you may want to think again. Who knows what retirement package/pension will even be available by the time you are entitled to it. Even if like us you think you have provided for that, something can easily happen to put that in jeapordy. It happened to us and it could happen to you. And a job, even if you think it is a good job is not guaranteed for life like it used to be. Layoffs, redundancy and that kind of thing just happen. It’s a fact. Doesn’t matter what country you live in. You are not immune. It’s just the way it is now.
Looking at the US Government shutdown for a moment. Just because congress could not make a decision suddenly hard working individuals were put on “furlough” – 800,000 according to CNN and disability and pension checks will also be stopped!
We saw the writing on the wall and it is why we made a decision to change all that and take control of our own income and our own lives. We didn’t know if we could do it but we were going to give it 100% try. Did we get it right first time round? No. Did things go according to plan always? No. But we stuck by our decision and we just get going. We would not be deterred.

We finally had some success in our venture but it was not until mid 2012 that we discovered a company that we knew we could align ourselves with and help a lot more people to achieve the dream of working for themselves and taking control of their own income. Where ordinary people were having extraordinary success in their lives and their incomes.
We had read the stories, seen the videos (as many of you may have already done) but being the accountants that we are we had to see it working for ourselves before we were confident to show others.
The long and short of the experiment was that we could make it work and we could help others to do that same.
We have never looked back since that day and have worked consistently and persistently building an amazing community of people who are no longer afraid the threat of the world economy or the US Government shutdown in this case.
We know that the US Government shutdown could be the UK or anywhere else in the world.
