Cheri Madison

The most counterintuitive post here reports research showing that adverts on a social platform work best when they behave like adverts from a much older medium. Cheri Madison passes on the finding and its reasoning, which is that the medium changed and human attention did not.

Traffic is her main subject and she is specific about routes: feeds, image boards, and three methods she says work every time. The image board post is the most detailed and assumes you have never used one seriously.

Then the blog turns domestic. Several posts deal with clutter, and the argument running through them is that organisation and storage are different things, and buying more containers solves nothing.

She writes about perfectionism as an obstacle rather than a standard, and about time being worth more than money in a way that avoids the usual platitude.

Around all that sit news items she found interesting, from a dog that survived a river to the antioxidants hiding in popcorn.

Read the advertising research post first. It will change what you make next.
