Let’s Talk about Suicide in our society!
An average, of 3,800 Canadians takes their own lives every year; this often exceeds the number of deaths caused by road accidents. And worst more than 33,000 people die by suicide every year in the U.S. More women attempt suicide, about four times as many men as women die from their suicide attempt. Why? The reason for that is men generally use more lethal means such as firearms, hanging, or asphyxiation. Women often use drug overdoses or asphyxiation, or they cut themselves. Firearms are used in about 25% of all suicides. Of all deaths that involve firearms, about 80% are estimated to be suicides.
Adolescents, got 24% averages of death by suicide, these people are between 15 and 24 years old. The other category is young men between the ages of 20 and 24 years old. They are fallow by senior men over 80 years old. And after by prisoners, because whom suicide is the leading cause of death.
Many people believe that, even though a person might talk about suicide, they will not actually do it. In fact, talking about suicide is a warning sign that the person is at greater risk. If you become so overwhelmed by your problems, and suicide becomes a consideration, you deserve to be taken seriously.
Talking about suicide means that the potential exists to take your own life even if you do not actually do it. If you’re having thoughts of suicide, see your doctor or a counsellor for help.
If you’ve scheduled an appointment with a mental health professional, make sure to keep the appointment, even if that person says he or she is feeling better or doesn’t want to go. Suicidal thoughts do tend to come and go. So never cancels!
Some common Causes of suicide:
1.depression,
2.bipolar disorder
3.schizophrenia
4.alcohol and drugs abuse
5.family history of suicide
6.relationships with friends and family
7.losing hope
8.the death of a loved one
9.loss of an important relationship
10.loss of employment
11.loss of self esteem
12.emotional abuse or physical pain
13.bullying
Warning signs of suicide:
1.signs of severe depression
2.ignore friends and family members they use to like a lot
3.more sad then regular and lonely
4.loss of interest in all the activities they use to like
5.physical changes like; the way they use to dress and wash them self
6.lack of energy like; different sleep patterns, change in weight or appetite
7.loss of self esteem, negative comments about himself
8.bringing up death or suicide in discussions or in writing
9.previous suicide attempts
10.getting personal affairs in order like; is personal possessions, is personal wills, is life insurance
Suicide happens when a person has lost all hope. It’s the final attempt to end suffering, but it’s not a solution. People who end their lives this way, leave all the people who care about them with a lifetime of sadness, confusion, hurt and despair.
If you or someone you know may be at risk of committing suicide, contact emergency services in your area immediately to get professional advice. Your local phone book will have the telephone numbers of distress lines and support agencies, the internet got good site and center for helping these peoples don’t be shy to call for them they need your help right away. It’s like a S.O.S!
