11 Things You Didn’t Know About your Dogs

1.Dogs have as many muscles for moving their ears as people. Dogs use these ear muscles to display over 100 different facial expressions! These ears also help dogs to hear sounds at four times the distance that humans can.

2.This instinctive action of turning around into their bed. To keep your dog at home comfortable, just make sure they have a specified place to sleep and keep it in the same spot. This will help them to feel more secure.

3.A small breed dog’s stomach is the size of a walnut!

4.An adult dog has 42 teeth and they require specific care. It’s important to try to brush their teeth regularly with specialised products and have annual dental checkups.

5.The dog’s average life expectancy is between 8 to 15 years. Make sure you visit a vet for regular checkups even when they are healthy as this will help maintain your pet’s healthy and well being and keep them with you longer.

6.At birth puppies are deaf, blind, and toothless and have almost no sense of smell. To ensure your puppy develops into a strong adult dog, ensure you feed them with a puppy specific food.

7.For a young dog, exercise and play are the most important way to enjoy the day. As a dog gets older, he lives for dinnertime. As your dog matures it’s important to keep their nutrition appropriate to their age.

8.Make sure when you choice your new puppy to do your research about each the breed and match it appropriately with your lifestyle.

9.If you got a dog with a lot of hair or hair growing fast make sure to bring your dog for a grooming each 3 months the most, I go each 2 month!

10.To help ease any destructive behaviour that can arise from boredom like exercising their jaws on your belongings, make sure to buy few toys they can chew or bite on.

11.Like cats, dogs can also get sick or die from eating chocolate.

10 Ways to Tell If Your Dog is Healthy

1.Monitor Their Eating Habits if you think your dog eat too much you need to control and show him he got enough and try to change his mind by some activity.

2.Weekly basis you should be performing a full body check of your dog. Gently run your hands over every part of your dog’s body and check for lumps, cuts, inflammation and any signs of discomfort.

3.When you’re out on walks, watch the way your dog moves when he walks and runs. Does he or she ever seem overly tired? Coughing and excessive panting may also indicate problems. If it seems out of the ordinary take your dog to your vet.

4.Obesity is the cause of several kinds of problems in dogs and of course, it should be avoided. Keep your dog on a steady, well balanced diet. If things start to get out of control.

5.Diarrhea, constipation, blood and mucus are the four things to look for in your dogs stool. And if the urine looks dark, cloudy or blooded then this should be cause for concern. Keep an eye on the regularity of your dog’s toilet habits and make sure the appearance is consistent.

6.Check their mouth, gums should be pink, so dark or red patches may indicate a problem. Check for growths and lumps, and make sure that the teeth are clear and that none are loose. Check the tongue for cuts and sores. Unusually bad breath could be an indication of digestive problems.

7.Your dog’s nose should be moist and cool. Check out for excessive discharge, sneezing and that breathing are easy and unobstructed.

8.Examine your dog’s feet for any cuts, grazes or growths. Long nails can sometimes cause problems and should be trimmed, with dog clippers. Be careful when cutting or trimming your dog’s nails as this can sometimes cause bleeding.

9.Check your dog’s ears for wax build up, swelling and bad odor. Wax can be removed gently with cotton wool but you should never poke anything directly down your dog’s ears. Bad odor or swelling will need the attention of your vet.

10.Your dog’s eyes should be clear and the pupils should be the same size. Check for in growing eye lashes that looks like it’s causing a problem. There should also be no excessive discharge or signs of irritation. If you not sure about something visit the vet.
