Dads: Television fathers appear to be great, but your child needs you in person!
The other day I was on a motivational call with my business and the person running the call, Nicole Cooper, made a statement that I know affects many children. She stated that while she was growing up the only successful people (nice cars and money) that she saw were drug dealers and gang members. In this day and time, that is to often the case for our children.
Then she made this statement: The only time I saw something successful that was positive was when I saw the Cosby show. Parents with a lot of money and good careers.
How many people see kids in this type of situation? Or better yet, have or are currently experiencing this situation now?
I will say that the way some television fathers are portrayed is a great influence on children today, but if you are a father and that is all your child knows, shame on you! Fathers are a vital part of every child’s life. If more fathers took time with there kids, SOME of the issues we have in the world would calm down.
If you don’t know how to be a father, maybe you should look at television fathers yourself.
Some fathers didn’t grow up with their father either. Therefore they don’t know what they should do now. STOP USING THAT EXCUSE…
…It is time for you to figure it out. If you don’t have a father figure you can talk to, pick up a book on the subject. Why not take notes on what actions the television fathers do. Keep in mind it is just TV, but if you take some of their actions and use them in a relationship with your child, it will be better than you not being there.
A few fathers that you see around this blog are: Healthcliff Huxtable from the Cosby Show, Mike Brady from the Brady Bunch, Uncle Phil from Fresh Prince of Bel Air, and Charles Ingalls from the Little House on the Praire. Here is a list of things the above named television fathers do/have:
- JOB – Out of the list, they all have a job. If you are living off of women or hanging around the house doing nothing, you CERTAINLY are on the wrong track. With this economy, if you are not working but really looking, that is understandable. If you do not want a job you need to start your own business and you certainly are on the right blog for that (Click the link at the bottom or the ones on the side and get serious with your life). Bottom line you need to bring in some money to support your child/family!
- QUALITY TIME – The list of television fathers are all active in their child’s life. You need to take time with your child. Money is needed but your presence will be most important to mold their life into something great. Speaking from experience, I know all families are not together like shown in the shows I listed. Your child not being in the house with you is an unacceptable excuse when it comes to the time you spend with them. I love spending time with my son!
- Discipline – These television fathers discipline their kids. People in the real world may do it differently. I don’t think television shows parents whipping their kids but either way you look at it or do it, your children need to be disciplined. That is what a lot of kids today are missing, discipline!
I only shared three things but for some fathers, I know they needed to hear those three things. I have been a father for 20 months and still learning a lot but if you are looking for someone to talk to, comment below with your email and we will connect.
You may not have the confidence in yourself that you can be a good father but if you are having children you better build some confidence. These fatherless homes are were most of the bad children are coming from (In my opinion). NOT SAYING THAT SINGLE MOMS ARE NOT DOING THERE JOB, but it took two to make the child and there should be two to raise the child. Single parents do an amazing job!
The single parents are currently working crazy hours because they have to do it alone. This is where the television fathers come in at, if the child even stays at home. Then in other situations, the environment that your child has to endure can mold them into a bad child even with both parents.
I am going to keep it real. If you are a father and having babies left and right and your kids only know television fathers, YOU NEED TO STOP and realize the negative impact you are having on your child!
To your prosperity,
P.S. Fathers, it is time to get serious about getting your life together, being a great example for your child, and not allowing television fathers to raise your children. I am going to share with you a business that is changing my life for the better. I am working on personal development, working on freedom to spend more time with my son and not miss any of his events, and working on enjoying my life while building a legacy. So, STOP WHAT YOU ARE DOING AND CLICK RIGHT NOW BECAUSE YOU CAN BE A GREAT FATHER, A GREAT PROVIDER, AND VERY SUCCESSFUL…..IF YOU TAKE ACTION!
