Branden moved to a big boy bed!
So Branden’s “big boy bed” mattresses came in this weekend!
It is exciting but so depressing at the same time. He’s growing up so fast!
Saul was in Alabama playing softball so my dad and I went and picked the mattresses up in his truck. We picked up my old bed frame out of storage and I came back to set it up
I never took the time to research and read about the “right way” to transition from a crib to a big boy bed. For the first six months of Branden’s life he did pretty much the opposite of what the baby books suggested.
Branden never slept in our room. Ever. We brought him home from the hospital and he was in his own crib from the start.
When we were ready for him sot start sleeping through the night, we did it tough love. Let him cry himself back to sleep. It only took 3 days of this and that was it.
We have always been strict on schedules and anal about routines whenever possible, but adaptable when need be.
The baby books kinda (rarely) helped..so Saul and I have always done things kind of our own way. A lot of the times it was against the advice of our mothers or whatever..but you know what? I’m happy with how we’ve done things.
So when it came time to transitioning to a big boy bed. We just did our own thing again. My parents took Branden over to their house so I could take apart his crib and put his big boy bed in it’s place.
When he came home and it was time to sleep, we went through our normal routine.
A shower/bath
PJs
Read two books
said our prayers
and I put him in the bed like it was no big deal.
Branden climbed in, I covered him up and 15 minutes later he was asleep.
I’ll admit nap time I wasn’t as lucky…he slept for 45 minutes opposed to his normal 2 1/2 hours..but hopefully we’ll get that back on schedule too
