What is the purpose of fingerprints?
Have you ever really examined your hands and noticed your fingerprints? Have you ever studied the intricate lines that are woven throughout your skin?
I have. I myself have a weird fascination with hands. There’s something that attracts me to them, I don’t know what it is. Weird, I know. So, naturally, I’ve questioned “what is the purpose of fingerprints?”
I decided to do some research.
I discovered the following the following facts:
1) There’s a one in 64 billion chance that your fingerprint will match up exactly with someone else.
2) No two people have been found to have the same fingerprints — they are totally unique.
3) You leave your fingerprints throughout life on the things you touch
4) Fingerprints are formed in the womb
Despite many theories scientists have not been able to conclude the reason for having fingerprints. I’d like to think of fingerprints as tangible evidence of my own uniqueness, a uniqueness that can only be fully understood by God himself.
Jesus himself had two very distinguishing marks on his hands and they will remain with him through eternity as a reminder to all of us of what he did when he died on the cross.
Isaiah 49:15-16 says:
I will not forget you! See I have engraved you on the palms of my hands…
What do fingerprints and purpose have in common?
There is constant pressure form the surrounding world to conform. We lose sight of our purpose, our intentions, and it seems like a never ending battle raging inside between logic and the heart. God impresses on our hearts to guide and direct us throughout life. He will do this in a way that is unique to you.
There’s something freeing about following your heart in the direction of your dreams and desires. When you break free from the mold that surrounds you and make the choice to pursue YOUR PURPOSE, not what society tells you is the best thing to do, something will ignite inside. You feel like you can conquer the world. And you feel like your fight is something worth fighting for.
I’ve discovered my fight. I will fight to the end of the earth to help others. This is the desire that has been imprinted on my heart. This is my purpose. How I fight will be unique to me. As well as who I fight for. I believe there are certain people I will be able to help and others, not. I believe there will be lives I can touch in a way that only I can touch them.
I am thankful for the position I have been put in to help others. There is no other place I would be, then here, right now.
