Yummy Candy Apples and Divine Art Festivals
I simply love “living the life” with my Partner in Crime, Carolyn, aka Mamma (check her blog out here). Her and I do everything together. We now have the freedom and mobility to work from everywhere and anywhere we choose…
This morning, with out a care in the world, we got out of bed and decided that we wanted to do a little shopping on this beautiful day. Since Halloween is right around the corner, she needed to get a festive little witchy jar to put candy on her desk. (And of course she needed that, I have to go steal candy from her office! ) We thought that Marshall’s was the BEST place to go because they ALWAYS have the BEST (legitimate enthusiasm there) holiday decorations. While we were there we bumped into some old friends who planted the idea of being outside for the day, as they were on the way to the baseball field for her son’s game.
Mamma and I got talking while we were in the store and thought it was a good idea to go to a farm and get pumpkins or go pick apples… something fun to do outside!
We proceeded to leave Marshall’s with our purchases, and on our way to the farm we were going to, we stumbled upon an Art Festival that was happening for one day only; and that day happened to be for today!
We ditched the farm/apple orchard idea for an afternoon full of local art, music and food.
Most importantly the food.
Because every time I go to a place like this I have to sink my teeth into something delicious!!
Today happened to be a candy/chocolate/coconut/deliciousness covered apple!!
That was my first Candy Apple in years!!
Yes, that’s right, YEARS!
As it turns out I used to actually be highly allergic to birch tree, and in the birch tree family are apples, plums, peaches, apricots, cherries, and various other tree fruits. This was the first season that I could actually have all of my favorite fruits! Apparently I swapped my birch tree allergy for my gluten one!
It was actually my goal this week to find a nice little place to have a candy apple. Funny how the universe works, all week I had been thinking about where I was going to get a candy apple and how much I wanted one and then – POOF – right in the middle of an art festival, was a guy selling candy apples! And I am so glad! Because that one was SO delicious!!

I just couldn’t resist…right after the previous picture was taken I just dove right into my apple!

At the Art Festival we met so many nice, honest, wealthy entrepreneurs and artists – both young and old – loving what they do and living their lives the way they want to. It was an incredible experience to witness – not only art for what it is physically, but what it is both emotionally and spiritually. Before I started on my journey of personal development and entrepreneurship, I never really realized how much work is involved in creating such master pieces. Sure, I appreciated the beauty for what it was on the outside, everyone does, but I never stopped to genuinely appreciate the work and time involved to create one piece of jewelry or one painting.
The same amount of commitment an artist puts into his or her work is the same amount of commitment an entrepreneur must make in his or her business. But I imagine that the same feeling an artist gets while creating is the same feeling I get when I help people experience this type of lifestyle. The lifestyle of being carefree and jumping from activity to activity during the day because we want to and because we can. It’s a wonderful feeling, that five months ago I didn’t think I ever could feel.
Immediately following the Candy Apple and Art Festival…
Mamma and I decided to take our laptops to Starbucks, have a coffee, chat, and blog about what an AMAZING day we had. When my mom went to grab a table, I got talking to the barista making our lattes about how I found it interesting how an espresso maker works, and that it’s fascinating that this whole HUGE machine’s one job is to produce tiny little shots of espresso and steam milk. Because of that conversation, he brought us over a delicious little spinach bread thing for free!
Seriously, it was AMAZING! I guess Starbucks is changing the bakery that they get their baked goods from… Which is good, because it was all warm and toasty and spinachy and I had to have a bite because he gave it to me and I didn’t care that I was going to cheat on my gluten-free diet because it was SOOOO worth it!!
(Quite the run-on sentence…my 7th and 8th grade English teacher would not be impressed! )
Is yum.
Following that I took my friend to his freshman year homecoming dance and I get to finish up my post now!
I had a wonderful day filled with frivolity, abundance and happiness!
I am so grateful for the time I spent with my mom meeting all of those wonderful people, eating good food, listening to Inner Circle Audios all day!
