Moving to Costa Rica

One of the biggest draws of Costa Rica is the “Pura Vida” lifestyle. It’s awesome to me that life here isn’t about things, but rather the people and experiences with those people. Most people don’t understand what I mean by that until they actually visit Costa Rica for themselves.

Now let me warn you that when you come here once, you’re hooked. Almost no one comes here only once. In my case, I’ve now moved here twice. My reason for coming back was simple, surfing. Actually it was a bit more than that, but it mainly came down to wanting to be in a place where the waves were solid for a majority of the year and this place has just that.

My first trip to Costa Rica was with my family back in June 2010. My sister had just graduated and my grandpa had just passed away. So my dad decided to use the money my grandpa left to take us on a family surf trip to Tamarindo with Costa Rica Surf Adventures.

After just 3 days into the trip, I’ve made the decision to put in my notice with the company I was with and started planning my move to Costa Rica. Compared to most places in the United States, it’s heaven in Costa Rica. Waves all the time, people are laid back and the weather is perfect. Who says you need to have a cold winter? I love the 4 seasons; summer, summer, summer and summer..

Been living in Tamarindo for almost a year now and think my time in this city may soon be coming to an end as I’d like to see and surf more places. When I travel, something I prefer doing is spending at least a month or two there to get a good feeling for the culture. And can say with all my heart that I love the culture here in Costa Rica.
