Wrestling Mom
Yes that is me. I am a true wrestling mom. I have three boys all wrestlers, my oldest will wrestle at the University of Wisconsin in Madison in the fall. My two younger boys are wrestling for Deerfield High School, and Shepard Jr. High. So whether I like it or not I am an official wrestling mom!
The good thing is, I really enjoy the sport. That is how I know I am a wrestling mom. I actually love going to meets and spending my weekends in smelly places to watch my boys wrestle. I know it sounds crazy, but there is nothing like watching your kids wrestle. It is just him and his opponent on the mat ready to battle. He stands along, and nothing makes me prouder. Even when they are getting beat in a match, I still am proud. To see see him win is great, but see how he handles defeat, it empowering and inspirational. You still don’t get it. “Why Wrestle?”
Only a Wrestling Mom Knows!
Wrestling prepares a person to fight the game of life.
The wrester is the one athlete that must meet his opponent and do battle completely on his own; No one can substitute, no time outs are possible.
He has no one to check, screen, block, or assist him in any way;
There is no one to blame for his mistakes. When he wins, he must show quiet pride and modesty. When he loses, the responsibility is his.
Wrestling is a true sport.
In other sports, when contact is made, they blow the whistle to stop the action;
In wrestling, when contact is made, we’re just getting started.
No other sport requires more sacrifice then wrestling.
Individual, through self-denied, offers more of his character than can ever be explained.
Through every trial, test, and tribulation.
Only A true Wrestling Mom Undertands.
I mean it is crazy. Wrestlers are constantly watching their weight. It can make someone crazy, especially if you are a wrestling mom. Then there is the washing of the clothes. I mean when my boys are in season they go through at least 3 workouts a day and their clothes are DISGUSTING. I have had to take my son to get his ear drained, because we don’t want cauliflower ear. We have been to chiropractors, orthopedics and massage experts. We also deal with skin infections such as ring worm or impetigo. I have watched my kid get slammed to the floor and experience concussions. Sounds great huh? Well that is the life of a wrestling mom. We have to be tough. On the other hand I have seen both growth and success. I have watched my kids stand proudly at the top of a podium after a long day. I see the pride it brings to them. I have also had the unique experience in watching my oldest child with 3 Different State Champion Titles. It has been an amazing journey and I can proudly say. I AM A WRESTLING MOM AND I COULD NOT BE PROUDER!
My boys wrestle all year round. I am so busy running all over the place, I really can’t find a job to fit around my wrestling schedule. Its hard. I recently found my niche. I work from home, have fun, make money and find time to do what I need to do. It is the best secret ever. Click below to find out more
In the mean time, my kids just walked in from a tough workout and VERY WET, SMELLY, clothes. Off to do laundry
Have a great day.
