Work out lower abs – Strengthening your abdominal/core muscles can be the single, most important effort you make in your quest for fitness. Getting those 6-pack abs takes time and dedication. It is a daily effort, but one that can be incorporated into your routine. It is also one that will make you feel energized, sexy, and in control.

There are several steps you can take to work out lower abs.

1. Do cardio to lose fat. Sculpted abs are great but if covered in a layer of fat, will be invisible. It is impossible to target where you lose weight. Doing regular cardio workouts will have you burning more calories for overall weight loss.

2. Eat small meals, especially dinner. We typically eat our largest meal at night. We should be doing just the opposite – eat your largest meal for breakfast (to fuel your body throughout the day) and your smallest meal at dinner (when your body is going to be resting for a number of hours).

3. Eat Breakfast. This may seem like a no-brainer but you’d be surprised at how many people simply grab a cup of coffee and expect it to last them until lunch, when you will consume more calories than you should because you’re body has had no fuel for the day. For work out abs to be a reality, don’t skip the most important meal of the day.

4. Engage in Weight Lifting Exercises at least twice a week. Building more lean muscle will cause your body to burn more calories even when you are not exercising – it’s a great bonus! In addition, focusing on only cardio workouts (which may people do when trying to lose weight) can cause you to actually lose muscle mass.

5. Eat small meals throughout the day. Start with a big breakfast, then focus on 3-4 small meals throughout the day. This will jump start your metabolism first thing and keep it up for the remainder of the day.

6. Drink water – lots of it! Have a glass of water before meals to curb your appetite. Keep yourself hydrated throughout the day with water, herb tea, or decaffeinated coffee.

7. Eat more whole grains. We’ve all heard this but it is often difficult to do if you don’t understand completely what is meant by “whole grains.” We want to avoid refined grains and processed foods. Even 100% whole wheat bread is a processed food. Learn about real “whole” grains like quinoa, spelt, oats and barley.

8. Work out lower abs – do crunches and sit ups of differing varieties to hit all your ab muscles. Proper technique and breathing is key. Learn how to work out abs properly for maximum effect.

9. Focus on your entire core – work out lower abs, upper abs, as well as obliques and back muscles.

10. Use a medicine ball and a stability ball to add more challenge to your exercise routine to work out lower abs even more.

11. Consider a workout routine such as Shaun T.’s Hip Hop Abs to guide you through work out lower abs.
