Being An Entrepreneur

Being An Entrepreneur

Have you ever thought of the major leagues in baseball to be compared to being an entrepreneur, probably not?  I remember playing baseball when I was a kid playing for the White Sox, which became my favorite team after following them and becoming a huge fan of Frank ThomasFrank Thomas achieved some of the highest awards that any player can receive, but how did he get those?

Frank Thomas was the first baseman for the Chicago White Sox.  He had 521 homeruns, 2,468 hits, 1,704 runs batted in, he was a 5X All Star Player, 4X Silver Slugger Award Winner, 2X AL MVP, and won the Homerun Derby in 1995.  He accomplished all of this by practicing, but what if that’s all he did was…

PRACTICE

He wouldn’t have been able to be as great as he was.

There’s More To Being An Entrepreneur

You see, “being an entrepreneur” you have to practice by learning new skills but what so many entrepreneurs wind-up doing is staying in the practice mode and never actually play the game.  Just because you think you are being an entrepreneur by learning all day long, that is not going to produce the results that you want, you must implement what you have learned.  So like a baseball player practices almost every day and for almost two months strait in the off season, you have to actually play the game or you’re not going to win.

If you just stay in learning mode there is no chance that you will ever hit a homerun in your business because you’re not actually playing the game.

And if your not playing the game, your chances of being an entrepreneur are going to get you thrown out of the game before you even take the field.

You won’t always hit a home run in your business, you’ll do things that will make you lose money, trust me I know, but if I wasn’t playing the game I wouldn’t be where I am today playing like Frank Thomas hitting homeruns, enjoying my business, and enjoying my life.

I stuck out a lot, but you know what, you grow and get better in time.

So get out there and strike out a few times, learn some new skills by practicing, get back out there and hit it out of the park.

Practicing + Implementing = HOMERUN
