My Dirty Secret

Restored from the Empower Network archive (2011–2017), lightly edited to meet our current advertising standards. Views are the original author’s.

We all have ONE.

Dirty Little Secret….

Some of us have more…

Something you don’t know About Me!

Well….

So here it is..shhh  don’t tell anyone, I am the Queeen of Messy Closets.
Always have been…why is this…figured it out today, while listening to some training.
I am more of a visual person. If it “looks” clean I am good.

Now just a Secret, and truly more messy than dirty.

My husband, and mother both know this about me.

I like my home to be clean and tidy, as long as you can’t see it!

Truly out of sight out of mind for  me.

Just Don’t open the closet door.

Use to be under my bed, growing up…funny things we do.  Don’t worry I have graduated from that to just closets.

I have been known to also place the blame on my children. Though some of that is True. I do hold some responsibility.

I get in “moods” and clean and tidy those black holes, but I have to have that “cleaning bug” to do it.

I would love to have a nice clean Organized  CLOSETS. Ohhh, maybe someday when my kids are gone.

I will have the Time.

So there is it!  You know my little thing I hide in the closet…..EVERYTHING

Learning I am a visual person also explains why I say things like, OH I see, not I feel that.
I like to write things down. Directions. Pictures, I like to create outfits, and decorate my home.

All visual.

Maybe why I am not a huge reader. It looks boring. All that white and black. Blah BLAH. Show me some color baby!

Pictures.

There are 3 main types of learners..

Visual, Auditory, & Kinesthetic(Tactile)

Throughout life we are taught in each of these ways, though you may not realize it.
K-3rd  new information is presented to us kinesthetically; grades 4 -8 are visually presented; while grades 9 to college and so on, information is taught to us primarily through auditory ways like lectures.

Here is the Basics:
Hints for Recognizing the Three VAK Styles:

Auditory learners often talk to themselves. They also may move their lips and read out loud. They may have difficulty with reading and writing tasks. They often do better talking to a colleague or a tape recorder and hearing what was said.

Visual learners have two sub-channels—linguistic and spatial. Learners who are visual-linguistic like to learn through written language, such as reading and writing tasks. They remember what has been written down, even if they do not read it more than once.

They like to write down directions and pay better attention to lectures if they watch them. Learners who are visual-spatial usually have difficulty with the written language and do better with charts, demonstrations, videos, and other visual materials. They easily visualize faces and places by using their imagination and seldom get lost in new surroundings.

Kinesthetic learners do best while touching and moving. It also has two sub-channels: kinesthetic (movement) and tactile (touch). They tend to lose concentration if there is little or no external stimulation or movement.

When listening to lectures they may want to take notes for the sake of moving their hands. When reading, they like to scan the material first, and then focus in on the details (get the big picture first). They typically use color high lighters and take notes by drawing pictures, diagrams, or doodling.

Something that also plays into each of us is being right or left brained.
You combine these and many more other traits and you have a little explanation of whom you are.

Which do you think you are?

Those with a right-side dominant brain depend more on visual references for understanding and are often times visual learners.

The left brain is the side that handles organization and logic.

Try this test and see what side is your dominant:

So I am more Right Brain…
Combine them and WhaLa:

Simultaneous Hemispheric Style:
 LEFT (Analytic) RIGHT (Global)
1. Verbal 1. Visual
2. Responds to word meaning 2. Responds to tone of voice
3. Sequential 3. Random
4. Processes information linearly 4. Processes information in varied order
5. Responds to logic 5. Responds to emotion
6. Plans ahead 6. Impulsive
7. Recalls people’s names 7. Recalls people’s faces
8. Speaks with few gestures 8. Gestures when speaking
9. Punctual 9. Less punctual
10. Prefers formal study design 10. Prefers sound/music background while studying
11. Prefers bright lights while studying 11. Prefers frequent mobility while studying

So now you all know my learning and living style.
I love to Draw, Create, and have a dirty closet!

Focus your talents and traits and you can succeed in whatever you choose to Be Passionate About.

You just need to take the time to figure out what helps you the most. As well as those you are around.
