Handling Your Problems Requires A Change of Mindset

Problems are just temporary setbacks.

Problems are also defined as  obstacles.

A problem can also be known as something you can do something about.  Reason why is this:  If you can’t do something about it, then it’s not a problem.  It’s called a “Predicament.”

Check out this analogy:

P redictors—helping to mold our future.

R eminders–that we are not able to solve alone.

O pportunities–lifting us from the ruts and allowing us to become more creative.

B lessings— opening doors we normally would not go through.

L essons—providing solutions to each new challenge.

E verywhere–everyone has difficulties, you are not alone.

M essages–signals us warnings regarding potential disasters.

S olvable—reminds us that every problem has it’s own solution.

Ten Tips for Problem Handling:

1.  Define The Problem

Separate the predicaments from the problems, this will put you in position to acknowledge the predicament so you can solve the problem.

2.  Expect Problems To Come

A problem not expected in advance is a problem.  A problem expected is a opportunity.

3.  Face The Problem Head-on

The person who faces their problems has understood that the first step in solving a problem is just to begin.

4.  Evaluate The Problem

“There is a time in the life of every problem when it is big enough to see, yet small enough to solve.”  –Mike Leavitt

Acknowledge the problem, find the correct timing, then implement a solution.

5.  See Each Problem As An Opportunity

See problems as wake up calls for creativity.  You are required to use your abilities, resources and move forward, while acquiring a new strength in the aftermath.

6.  Think Of Great Leaders who Have Overcome Bigger Problems

Many of the difficulties we face aren’t significant when compared to the larger scheme of things.  Think of those who have life threatening diseases, then your problem will look pretty petty.  Keep an attitude of gratitude, for you can work out your problem.

7.  Make A List Of All The Ways Available To Solve The Problem

In order to solve our problems, we must fire up our creative juices.  Apply some sustained thinking and bring in others to help find the solution if necessary.

8.  What Are The Best Three Ways To Solve The Solution

If you can identify the best three solutions to any problem.  Give yourself some options, as well as a back up plan just in case your first solution fails.

9.  Begin To Re-Focus On Your Mission

“Concentration is the secret of strength in politics, in war, in trade, in short, in all management of human affairs.”  –  Ralph Waldo Emerson

“The measure of success is not whether you have a tough problem to deal with, but  whether it is the same problem to deal with, but whether it is the same problem you has last year.”–John Foster Dulles

10. Become A Positive Thinker

“Positive thinking is how you think about a problem.  Enthusiasm is how you feel about a problem.  The two together determine what you do about a problem.”–Norman Vincent Peale.

In handling your problems, use your problems as springboards to your success.  remember to focus on what you’re learning, not what you are losing.
