There is a breadth of information about pregnancy, many of it conflicting in nature. The sheer magnitude of information available may be overwhelming to many people. This article will show you lots of great information about keeping your baby, and yourself, healthy and strong.

Don’t sit for long stretches of time. By day’s end, many pregnant women will find that their feet and ankles are swollen. Your lower body has difficulty circulating your blood which leads to a build-up of fluids in your feet. The situation is exacerbated by prolonged periods of sitting behind a desk or while in a vehicle. To get rid of the swelling, lay on the left side when falling asleep, soak your feet, do not wear tight socks and don’t cross the ankles.

You should cut out caffeine intake or limit it during pregnancy. Drinking caffeinated drinks when you are pregnant can be harmful to your baby. This is the reason you should avoid caffeine while you are pregnant.

Protein is extremely important during pregnancy. This is an important nutrient for your baby to grow healthy, as well as being good for you. Some examples of high protein foods include chicken, tofu, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, legumes, and eggs.

Talk to your mom if you need advice. She is the closest person to you who has gone through a pregnancy before, so she will know exactly what to do and say to help put your mind at ease. Your mother will be sympathetic about morning sickness and other complications. Communicating with both parents is a great way to ensure you have support when you need it.

It is advised that pregnant women wear sports bras. By giving an additional level of breast support, they can contribute to less aches and lower levels of pain. In addition, your underwear should not be too tight around the waist. It can cut off oxygen to the baby and also cause discomfort for you.

Taking a prenatal vitamin when you are trying to get pregnant is a good idea, to make sure you are getting all of the vitamins and nutrients that you need. Your baby will start to develop his neural cord, which will turn into his spinal cord and brain during your first trimester. Making sure that you are getting sufficient levels of calcium, folic acid and iron is critical through all stages of your journey, from conception to delivery.

Do not change cat litter if you think you are pregnant. Pregnant women should avoid handling soiled cat litter because of the risk of contracting toxoplasmosis. Cats act as host to the parasite and if a woman becomes infected, it may be passed to the growing baby and result in stillbirth or miscarriage, as well as other abnormalities.

Just because you are pregnant does not mean you should forget about your partner. You partner is probably excited and nervous too; therefore, it is important to share experiences and reassure them during your pregnancy. Try going on a walk or to the movies to spend time together. Enjoy the time you have before your new addition comes!

The advice that was given to you here will help you keep yourself and the baby you are growing healthy during your pregnancy. There is so much to learn about pregnancy and this article’s goal is to give you a taste of this information.
