If you need to travel for work, or if you have a long trip planned, then you know it can be a bit of a pain to use your cell phone for your navigation needs. Sometimes, the GPS on your phone will load too slow. Other times, you will want to use your phone but not interrupt your navigation. If you’re going to travel any amount of distance, then you might want to look into getting a GPS navigation system.
There are many different options for GPS units, but Garmin is by far the best. A great reasonably priced option is the Garmin nüvi® 2457LMT.

As far as Garmin GPS navigation system goes, their performance is at one of the best.
Garmin GPS navigation works off satellite and is updated while in use, you don’t have to plug the GPS into your computer to work with street maps. It works quickly and offers a wide range of route options, including options to avoid traffic and avoid tolls.
Avoiding traffic will actually read real time traffic reports from other devices and will update you in the event of a traffic jam. This is great, as it allows you to always get where you’re going without dealing with the frustration of waiting in traffic. You can use batteries with the GPS if you want to avoid cords, or you can simply plug it into a cigarette lighter.
When fully charged, Garmin GPS navigation can work for 2 hours with no need to charge. In addition, if the onscreen navigation isn’t enough, you can update it for voice directions, so the GPS warns you up upcoming turns and exits.
The display is wide, full color and can be backlit at nighttime for the best visibility. It also includes a mileage or kilometer listing. In addition, it will give you your estimated arrival time based on your trip and average speed, so you always know when you’re going to arrive at your destination.

The mounting system can be placed on the windshield, or be clipped into the heating vents of your vehicle. The system is slim and lightweight, with a full color touch screen. You can navigate by direction, point of interest or major area hospitals and airports, among other options. The device is capable of working in both high and low temperatures, so you never need to worry if it’s in the sun or in the cold.
While many people have chosen to replace their GPS units with smart phone apps, the stand alone navigation system is far from dead. Using a smart phone instead of a GPS is not always a good option when your taking a large trip, as it will burn through your battery life quickly. In addition, on most systems, you’ll need to stop your navigation to take a phone call or send a message.
Stand alone GPS units are great for people who travel a lot for work, or for those who like to go on long road trips.
Garmin GPS navigation system – Nuvi is a particularly good model, as it updates itself so you don’t need to download new maps from the internet.
Instead, all you need to do is enter your destination, plug it in and drive.
