Recognize, Relate, Assimilate and Use Tried and True _ I Pass It to You

Restored from the Empower Network archive (2011–2017), lightly edited to meet our current advertising standards. Views are the original author’s.

Good Morning!  Or so it is here and now as I write.  (I felt I just had to Google Costa Rica and see what time they are on because the posting time is about seven hours different from what I’m experiencing here.  I’m just sharing how easy it is to get off track with the powers of technology so present at hand.)  So, now, may I segue into a technique I’ve subscribed to for many years?  Assuming I had success with pasting something I had created with Power Point, you will see “a guiding process” beginning this post.  If I failed, you just read “a guiding process” in this sentence and the sentence preceding.  I point this out because I intend to have a few areas I address fairly frequently in my blog and I’m hoping you like them and find them helpful.  Also, (and I’ll get into this more in another post) Erica at Erica.biz has me convinced you, as readers, will appreciate me and this blog more if you know what expectations I will strive to meet on a fairly regular basis.

Here’s one of the first guiding processes I remember when I entered the very different, very odd (to me), very delightful, very entangling world of having my own business.  That was centuries, no, strike that; that was decades ago.  In the years that have passed I managed to modify it, unintentionally, and didn’t even know it until I recently came across someone else sharing about it.  Their version, which is almost undoubtedly more correct, is:  recognize, relate, assimilate, action.  Interestingly, when I typed the phrase into Google (I couldn’t remember the last word they’d used) it came up:  recognize, relate, assimilate, and apply.  It was first attributed to Napoleon Hill who wrote Think and Grow Rich.

It’s not the last word I find so fascinating, but rather the word assimilate.  I learned in my youth (when I embarrassed myself by laughing inappropriately, usually at some joke I should have found vulgar) that I had a near instantaneous mind picture in response to many words.  It delights me to attach the vision of attaining new knowledge or, at the very least, new perspective to the digestive process within my body.

You may find it very helpful, as I have throughout what’s become a lengthy life, to notice – by which I mean, pay special attention to, — what you “recognize” catches your attention.  Apply that to what you recognize being special and meaningful to you in each day, what you find online drawing your interest the most, what reminds you of your mission in life (like I keep mentioning, “I still want to be great”.  I find myself intentionally seeking it when I’ve become bored with something I’ve already invested too much time in:  a lengthy sales letter attached to something my gut told me already is not for me.  You can learn lots from that.  What hooks were used that have you still hoping to get something out of that “guru”?  Has your greed become glued to some new title or video or maybe an idea that came to your mind you know you can do something with and not have to waste any more of your time with someone or something that doesn’t really mesh with you?

Recognizing is a great start, like giving you a fresh page to practice with something old, something new.  The relating process can take as long as you want, but you will likely find your mind is way ahead of you on that.  Sometimes you get lots of warm fuzzies, confirmation you are on track and focused after all.  Sometimes you get a real jolt as you find you are on a new idea track.  It’s like you wake up all over again, feeling refreshed and ready to go after it one more time.

You know when you’re assimilating when you feel the new pieces, (ideas, perspectives, hopes, dreams, beefing up of your goals) fitting in with all the rest of what matters to you.  You may want to find a way to anchor some of the new with what’s been.  We’re all human and when we “are cooking along” with what our plan is the time we can get to feeling “overfull”. That’s when the better we coalesce as we go, the less painful our occasional gluttony can feel.

Choose use, action or apply, or all three, to bring the process to fruition.  Try this.  I think you’ll like it.  It is simple to remember.  That’s actually where one of the “a” words may be best to remember.  Then you can think of it as R2A2.  I’d love to hear your experiences with it.

I still want to be great!  I have lots to share.  I’ll blog again soon.  Til then ~ anacarin
