With the help of the internet you can easily access all latest self-help information and there’s no longer any reason you can’t grow your confidence and self esteem – unless you don’t want to!
Here are a few little self help tips that millions of people throughout the world have already used to improve themselves and their lives by boosting their confidence and self esteem.
To stay motivated use your emotions as tools. As humans we are programmed to seek out pleasurable experiences and avoid those that are painful and you can easily use this to your advantage. When you want to break a bad habit, begin by associating bad feelings with it. Next, replace that bad habit with a better one that empowers you and makes you experience joy. If you do it deliberately to start with, your natural programming will soon kick in and you soon find you are continuing the good habit automatically!
Confidence
In order to feel better about yourself – the best self help key to confidence and better self esteem – you need to look good every day. If you take the time to make yourself look good you will automatically feel good and therefore have more self confidence. A few extra minutes in the morning will pay off all day. We often feel there isn’t time, but that’s only because we believe it’s not time well spent, if your life depended on it you’d find the time! If you don’t believe me, try it and see what a difference it makes!
Respect your own views. Don’t change how you feel about things because someone else doesn’t agree with you. Your views are part of what makes you the person you are. Changing yourself and talking about things you don’t really believe will make you feel bad. You’ll be denying yourself and that will do nothing to improve your self confidence.
Remember, the things we believe are not truths. We all have the right to our beliefs and different doesn’t mean wrong!
Self Esteem
Guilt is a big obstacle to self development because of the negative impact it has on self esteem. Feeling guilty is often a sign that you have in some way gone against your own values. Like beliefs, personal values are just the rules you have chosen about how you ought to live. Guilt implies that in essence, you have broken your own code of ethics. Think about what it is that you’ve done and why you feel the way that you do. It might be a sign to you from your unconscious that you need to reconsider a value about something in particular, or a reminder to be true to yourself in future.
Remember!
The only way guilt can ever serve a positive purpose is if you learn something from it for next time.
So think about the lesson and move on, nurturing guilt and wallowing in it will bring no positive benefit!
Helping others is one of the most effective ways of helping yourself. Some will say that self-sacrifice is the easiest way to self-actualization, what is sure is that when helping others you feel good and send out the most positive energy. As well as boosting your self esteem , by giving your time and/or resources to others you’ll probably discover that you have a lot more to be grateful for than you might have thought.
Whether you’re looking to improve in your personal or professional life, self help is the most gratifying way to do it and as mentioned at the start of this article, there is no shortage of self-help techniques easily available today.
