We’ve all heard the phrase “Mind over Matter.” But what does that really mean, and Why does it even matter?
Purpose before Substance by f1231520309
My last post was about celebrating the Chinese New Year – the Year of the Snake. That got me to thinking about new birth and new creation and purpose, and the fact that EVERYTHING in Creation gets created twice! And the FIRST Creation is all about Purpose. Here’s why I think this is important to you:
If you’ve considered entrepreneurship, or home-based business, you have likely began the journey toward your objectives with some purpose in mind. Maybe it involves helping people to lose weight and get in shape. Or maybe you feel your purpose in life is to bring more beauty into the world, through fashion or art or music. Whatever the case, you first had to have an idea, an image of what that business should deliver, BEFORE you began the process of pulling the pieces together, in order to actually BUILD your business.
“So what else is new?” you’re wondering! Of COURSE you have to have a purpose in mind before you pursue it!
The reason I think it’s worth talking about is because after you start down the path of fulfilling your purpose in life by creating your business, THEN is when all the obstacles show up! And THAT is when you need to remember this most valuable message: Whatever you imagine is what you will create. If you imagine a successful, thriving business, satisfying customers and clients and partners around the globe, that is what you will build. If you imagine: “too scared to make phone calls;” “not worth asking for loan;” “can’t understand how to work the numbers or the technology;” “don’t feel like I’m worth raising my fees by 50% or 100%;” then sure as the dickens, that is what you will get.
The KEY to calling upon your life’s purpose in a way that will lead to prosperity is Personal Growth. Here are just a FEW of the ways to generate the kind of self-development that will lead to prosperity:
- Seek out, and hang out with people who have walked ahead of you on your path. These people are HUMAN, just like you, and likely faced the same fears and concerns. They’ll help you ‘walk it out.’
- Every day – consume something good for you (e.g. audiotapes; videos; books from great thought leaders like , and
). If you listen and/or read daily, pretty soon the “Angel” voice in your head will begin to drown out your “Inner Critic” or “Doubting Thomas” voice.
- Acquire resources that will shrink and disempower your self-defeating thoughts (my personal favorites: essential oils; tapping; and meditation;
that will knock your socks off!)
- Acquire the training and support that will directly address the issues that are stumping you (e.g.: scared to make calls? Find or create a script and practice in your mirror until you know it. Cold. Can’t understand the numbers or the technology? Find someone who will teach you, or whom you can pay to get the job done.)
- Seek out a Mentor. This is a hard one for you fierce, independent types who think either that you should be able to do it on your own, or that there isn’t anyone really smart or experienced enough who YOU can respect, to lead you towards your destination. My advice – as someone who USED to be that “smart” (NOT!) and independent? GET. OVER YOURSELF. NOW. Recognize 1) that NO ONE did it by himself or herself without an INORDINATE amount of sacrifice and pain. You CAN go that route, but why waste the time? And 2) we’ve come a long way, Baby, in the last 10 million years or so. So the likelihood that you want to do something totally and completely new, that has never been done before in the history of Man – is probably slim to none. So why don’t you do yourself – and the folks who would like to become your customers and clients – a favor. Find someone who will help you reach us a bit more quickly.
I hope these few ideas will help you to turn your Purpose into Substance very soon, My Friend! DROP ME A LINE! Let me know YOUR thoughts on this whole ‘Mind over Matter” business!
Blessings!
