How to Write a Blog of Value for your Visitors

Restored from the Empower Network archive (2011–2017), lightly edited to meet our current advertising standards. Views are the original author’s.

With a bazilion Blogs out there on the web, what is the key to writing something that keeps your visitors coming back for more?

It’s not rocket science, but there are some guidelines to use to keep em’ returning. You’ve basically gotta stand out from the pack. And give people what the others won’t.

Here are some simple guidelines on how to write a blog of value for your visitors

1. Be Yourself – Everyone is always trying to be someone else, you’ve gotta speak from your heart. People can smell bullshit a mile away. Ninety percent of the internet is full of it, so be your truest self.

There’s only one of you out in the world, and that’s pretty freaking awesome if you ask me. Everyone has something to contribute whether they realize it or not.

2. Write Epic – Stand out, don’t write the same blah. blah, blah, hoop la’ bout making money online, and money falls from the sky. This is crap, I do believe promotion, but I follow the 80/20 rule.

For every blog or e-mail that is for selling, I write 4 that are not. I write about my travels, my life, cool ass stuff I’ve seen or heard about. There’s a lot of badass things happening out in the world, tell people about it.

3. Don’t Spam – This coincides with the last rule,  but actively engage everywhere you go. You can provide value in more ways than just content. Like and share,  and give genuine comments.

If you see another bitchen article from someone else, share it with people. Don’t be greedy, spammers are spotted a mile away, just like scams. So get out there and make a good presence, be someone who people who seek out.

4. Share Knowledge – Follow this simple system and see what happens, learn, apply, teach. It’s easy and watch what happens when you share your knowledge, crazy stuff. I promise you, I’ve generated over 150 free leads in 24 hours on Facebook just by giving knowledge.

You can share anything you’ve learned, personal development, technical skills, even cooking recipes. It doesn’t matter, but remember knowledge isn’t power by itself. Knowledge is power when it is connected with action. So learn, take action, and then share what you’ve learned.

5. Keep it Simple – You don’t have to give your entire life’s dissertation in a single blog post. You can create more content and keep things fresh by breaking up gigantic post into smaller more readable post.

Remember a lot of people don’t have an hour to sit down and read a post. And you can keep them coming back if they find value and want to see more. I’m not saying keep them all short, there is a time for long well planned out post, but you don’t need to write a five thousand word post everyday.

Now you see how to write a blog of value for your visitors and keep them coming back. It’s really not that difficult.

If you don’t even have a blog yet, that’s the first step. I guess I should have said that first. There are several free blogs online, but with free comes more work, you’ll have setup and all that other good stuff.
