Are you Lifting Smart In The Gym

Safety First!

We’ve all seen it before in the gym, there’s a guy, usually not very muscular and not lifting very safe. He’s grunting and groaning and disturbing everyone else in the gym into annoyance and he’s definitely not lifting smart.

Then that’s when it happens: SNAP! CRACKLE! POP! He’s dropped over 350lbs. on his chest while bench pressing!! How and why does this happen?

It comes from not lifting safe and not lifting smart is usually the diagnosis. But then again why do so many people including pros and average joes alike get themselves in situations like this? Usually for attention, showing off for that pretty girl wearing the all spandex Under Armour near the circuit training area. Or maybe their feeling a little insecure with themselves when the see someone that may appear to be getting more attention or achieving better results then themselves. Regardless of the reason, lifting smart is the only way to stay safe and get the best results at the same time.

I get it, I really do… If you want to gain muscle and bulk up you have to eat more and lift heavier then usual. But you have to practice lifting smart and safe especially if you don’t have a spotter. Know your limits and lift in a controlled and steady manner not matter what exercise your doing. It’s good always a good idea to switch up the pace and speed of your lifts to stimulate muscles in different ways but you still have to be in control. That doesn’t mean taking 2-3 minutes just to do a bicep curl either.

Lifting Smart to prevent injuries

Lifting smart and safely should always be practiced while weight training in the gym or wherever you may work out at. You have yo pay very close attention to lift smart and know your lifting limits when do large sets or compound movements such as bench presses for chest, squats and leg presses for quads and deadlifts for legs and back. These type of lifts usually involve heavier weights then normal and extreme caution must be taken at all times. When lifting smart, these are the types of resistant training exercises that will definitely put massive muscle on your bones. Keep in mind though if you’re not lifting smart and you get injured, your progress and and results will come to a screeching halt. On you injure yourself seriously, you may never be or perform the same in the gym again.

Lifting Smart and Safe: Concluded

We all want to get bigger, stronger and ripped while we’re working out, this is a given but if you don’t lift smart and safe the only thing your peers around you in the gym is going to be doing is laughing, screaming and rushing you to the ER when they have to scrape you off of the squat rack after 500lbs. just pancaked you into the floor. People respect you more when you lift smart and keep the noises to a minimum; Nobody is impressed hear a guy grunting, sweating everywhere and screaming for his life when he maybe only curling 20lbs. . Trust me it’s not a good look and lifting smart is always the way to go to reach you weight lifting goals.

Lifting smart is a great idea but gym memberships cost money. Check this out if you need some help covering your monthly fees:
