Oamaru scores highly…
One for Oamaru! I just spent a very brief weekend at the lovely ocean side town of Oamaru! And it turned it on for us! A shout out to the host Sarah and her energetic Boxer Bailey!
OK so thats not the most flattering picture of Bailey. Sorry Sarah, haha, I couldnt resist this one. Il put a better one further down! I had cricket cancelled due to the horrible rain that is persisting at the moment in Dunedin so we made a late decision to fly on over to Oamaru to visit Sarah. Haha, I’m still laughing at the picture above.
Oamaru wasnt much better when we got there either!
But was all good, we chilled for a bit and went out for dinner. I have to give a big thumbs up to Philadelphias in Oamaru! We have two in Dunedin but their pizzas just dont compare to Oamaru’s, delicious!! Desert wasnt bad.
We rented out a couple of movies, Columbiana, and Cowboys and Aliens. Columbiana was a really really good movie, enjoyed that one. Cowboys and Aliens, not so much. Not my thing, consider massive alien beings with hands in their chests and 10 foot high being taken out by the local Indians bow and arrows. Wasnt my scene.
There you go Sarah! I must mention Bailey the crazy dog, I give her a lot of grief about being annoying, you wouldnt believe how much this thing dribbles and slobbers over everything! You should have seen the mess she made when we gave her a treat while we went to hire a movie, we came back… gross! But all said and done shes a pretty cool dog, and Bailey and Max do have a ball together! She tends to get jealous of the cat though, so when we get our greyhound we will see how she copes then!
We woke in the morning and it wouldnt be a trip away without a game of golf! So off I trundled to the Oamaru golf course. Unlike my home course this one is a parklands course, meaning its very green and generally flat with large trees around the fairways. My home course is a Links course, so it has a tonne of slopes, its brown and hard, and the greens are impossibly raised to make accuracy a necessity.
The course was great, but Oamaru didnt hold a very good score for me!
I spent the first half searching for my ball either side of the fairway, and blowing out big time. The second half went well. For me and my poorness anyway!
Then it was back for another feed in Oamaru, Fat Sallys I think. Another delicious meal. Sarah and Lauren had burgers and they were delicious! I had wedges, and they were good. Wasnt hungry by that stage I had picked all the food I could of Laurens plate.
Sarah had also been storing a fish tank that was purchased some time ago. Its actually a pretty cool looking fish tank, as far as fish tanks go anyway. And the fish Lauren is looking to put in it are pretty cool so wel see how that one pans out.
The farm is expanding… read here to understand! So lets see, 2 chickens, only 3 kittens now, 2 cats, 1 dog but very soon to be 2. A cockatiel in the near future. Hmmmm.
Anyway, Oamaru treated is mighty well and Sarah did a stand up job of hosting our trip away! The weekend went too quick but I’m looking forward to work this week, lets hope for an even better week than last…
