What do you want to know? How to make a street of gold? What does hell look like? If you see it, would it make you work harder?
2 Corinthians 12:2-3
God knows, that is what is important. Why did God not reveal everything for us?
Why didn’t he picture heaven for us?
Would we avoid hell more? Why are there so many disagreements on different issues?
Purpose:
To look at examples in John 6 of misunderstanding Jesus’ teachings
To discover some reasons why Jesus may have made it difficult to understand
To conclude that we have everything and we need to serve God.
A hard saying, the Jews complained, John 6:28-42
Verse 28 is What are the things God wants us to do?
Verse 29 Believe!
Verse 30-31 Remember those that complained to those that were hungry? God provided.
Believe!
Verse 41 Jews complained because Jesus didn’t make sense when he said he was the bread from heaven. They complained because they didn’t understand even though they have seen the son. They saw him physically, but didn’t understand.
The Jews quarreled: John 6:42-52
Verse 52 Jews quarreled among themselves and doing this among them selves is the problem. Jesus was willing to answer their questions.
Verse 44 The Father will draw them up.
Verse 45 Everyone that learns goes to the Father
How do you come to Christ?
1. Taught
2. Hear
3. Learn from teaching
4. Come to the Father
Jesus says he is the bread of life
Verse 60-66 Many of them left. Why did Jesus make it so difficult? Eating flesh, drinking blood, so morbid that it is hard to understand.
1. They had come to him for the wrong reason. Verse 26 Notice how they even addressed him differently.
Daniel 7 shows the vision.
2. John 4 – Jesus knew in the beginning who didn’t believe. Believe in Me is necessary…
3. He revealed who is His true followers were (vs. 67-71) The 12 stayed
Lessons for us:
We can understand God’s word. The words of the Spirit gives life. We must apply God’s word and look to find their meaning. Some may not make sense. But you accept it because of what the Lord says. – Belief.
God did not have to reveal everything in order to gain believers. God has revealed everything we need to know. 2 Tim. 3:14-17. We know how to live our lives and serve him.
All these things are clear and simple.
In all these things, believe and be baptized. Accept it for what it is, and follow the Lord.
