Restored from the Empower Network archive (2011–2017), lightly edited to meet our current advertising standards. Views are the original author’s.

Luke 18:18

Why was the rich young ruler lost?

He came to Jesus.  Kneel down before Him.

Inquired What He Must Do.

Unafraid of Public Opinion.

Reading He had Good Morals.  Was a Man of Authority and Influence.

Why did he go away sorrowful?  Mark 10:22

He had a shallow view of God.

Heb. 11 Diligently seeking after Him

Is Family more important than the Lord?

Business?

You can’t please everyone.

Some just don’t want to put the Lord first, it takes total commitment.

Look at yourselves, is there one thing that you and I are not willing to do?
Are you willing to search God’s word?

Acts 17:11; Acts 8:35-38

Takes a mind willing to search.

Have you received it with “readiness”? Acts 2:37-39, Acts 20:25, Acts 26:28

Almost? Another time?

What is lacking between you and the Lord?

Are you a “Living Sacrifice”? Rom. 12:1-2 Holy and acceptable

What is a sacrifice? Something you give up that is more important to you? You are going to make a commitment.

May not be popular, but you need to do the right thing.

Do you “hold fast: confession of hope? Heb. 10:23-25

When we are unfaithful, we are undependable. Luke 9:23. Pick up your cross daily.  Don’t be ashamed of Jesus. Are you willing to make a total commitment to the Lord? Have you committed your life?
