In order to call yourself a leader, you must produce results.\u00a0 It doesn\u2019t matter how much people like you, if you are not producing.\u00a0 Most people will get to Level 2, love what they do, and love the people they work with and therefore, will settle.\u00a0 Only 15-20% of people will actually advance to Level 3.<\/p>\n
Why do most not make it to Level 3?<\/h2>\n
It is much easier to get along with people than to make things happen.\u00a0 We\u2019ll spend time with people we enjoy being around and forget to ask the important questions: \u201cAre we increasing our bottom line?\u201d, \u201cAre we making a profit?\u201d, \u201cAre we focused on an objective?\u201d\u00a0 Asking these questions is hard, so many just don\u2019t do it.<\/p>\n
To be a good leader, you have to be someone who makes things happen.\u00a0 If you cannot make things happen in your life, if you cannot make a sale or profit, then you will never make anything happen in someone else\u2019s life.\u00a0 And impacting others is what being a leader is all about.<\/p>\n
How to Get From Level 2 to 3<\/h2>\n
To get from Level 2 to Level 3, you have to make a major change in how you think.\u00a0 The key is RESULTS \u2013 making\u00a0 things happen.<\/p>\n
**People teach what they know.\u00a0 They reproduce what they are.**<\/h2>\n
A person with leadership potential may not move from Level 2 to 3.\u00a0 People enjoy being at Level 2.\u00a0 It\u2019s wonderful!\u00a0 Everyone\u2019s happy!\u00a0 Everyone likes you!\u00a0 It\u2019s not easy to transition into Level 3.<\/p>\n
Now, it is possible to make it to Level 3 without ever being on Level 2.\u00a0 Some leaders are just good producers, but they don\u2019t relate well with people.\u00a0 If you are a good producer, you can keep producing and producing on your own for a while.\u00a0 However, you will not be able to do it for long.\u00a0 If you truly want to be a good leader, you have to connect with people.<\/p>\n
\u201cLeadership production models and sets the standard for others visually.\u201d<\/h3>\n
It\u2019s easy to get up and cast vision.\u00a0 Talking the talk is much easier than walking the walk.\u00a0 But people do not do what they hear.\u00a0 They do what they see.\u00a0 It makes no difference to anyone if you speak about values that you don\u2019t live by.\u00a0 If you teach it, you must believe it.\u00a0 When people see what you are doing, they will begin to change.\u00a0 If you produce, people will follow because they have seen it in you.\u00a0 Don\u2019t teach what you don\u2019t believe and don\u2019t teach what you don\u2019t do.<\/p>\n
How to Move from Level 3 to Level 4<\/h2>\n
To move up to Level 4, you need to make one major change:\u00a0 DON\u2019T DO YOUR WORK ALONE.\u00a0 You need to take someone with you.\u00a0 You always need to be training and mentoring.\u00a0 Make a list of 10 people who would be available at any time to receive some training from you.\u00a0 This will change everything!\u00a0 Teach them what you do so they can teach others and so on.\u00a0 This will make you a great leader and prepare you to move to Level 4.<\/p>\n
