Taking Personal Responsibility<\/strong><\/h2>\n

I just read an interesting blog post<\/a> on taking personal responsibility for the results one may experience in his or her business.<\/p>\n

Early on in my network marketing<\/a> career, several leaders\/sponsors have \u2018snapped\u2019 at me quite a few times, LOL, suggesting that I must take responsibility for why I was not immediately generating sales and recruiting reps.<\/p>\n

What the heck does that mean, I wondered.\u00a0 Is this some sort of psychological babble they use on us newbies as a way of blowing us off; is this just an excuse for not helping their new reps?<\/p>\n

It wasn\u2019t until rather recently, actually, that I was able to let go of my \u2018resentment\u2019 \u2013 truly let go of my ego \u2013 and simply admit to myself that \u201ctraditional network marketing\u201d just is not in the cards for me at this time . . .<\/p>\n

But getting back to today\u2019s blog topic, the article I read was from a marketing expert who has worked with many high-level clients. Perhaps I will be able to afford to hire her some day, but for now I will just settle for reading her informative, fabulous, posts\u2026<\/p>\n

Today\u2019s topic is about taking personal responsibility for the results that you\u2019re experiencing in your business. One of the things I believe makes or breaks someone\u2019s chances for success in business is that of personal responsibility. If you\u2019ve been in my programs, my workshops or if you\u2019ve attended any of my calls, webinars, live events you know that I believe strongly in personal responsibility. I often call it the No-Excuses Approach.<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s what I know for sure. The more you take responsibility for every single aspect of your life, the more every part of your life will improve at the same time. In fact, I do not believe that you can ever achieve big success without personal responsibility. It\u2019s a topic that very few marketing teachers ever really talk about in depth, but it\u2019s one that is crucial for success.<\/p>\n

I\u2019m going to get vulnerable with you for a moment. In the past, each time I bumped up against a new level in my business a lot of my old stuff would come up. In the past, I\u2019ve caught myself comparing my level of success to others who were experiencing more success and feeling resentful, \u2018less than\u2019 and sometimes even blaming others. These are just yucky feelings to make excuses for not being where I would like to be, in terms of success, at that moment.<\/p>\n

It did not feel good to compare myself and to blame my circumstances and others, and perhaps you know exactly what I\u2019m talking about. What I\u2019ve noticed is I\u2019m not the only one who\u2019s ever experienced this. I have witnessed other people in my life who really want to move up to the next level, but instead they begin to feel frustrated. They start to point fingers, blaming their situation, the economy, their marriage, the price of gas, \u201cthe system\u201d, the government, a program they took or whatever else they can find to shuck responsibility for where they are currently.<\/p>\n

What I also noticed is that in the end we are all ultimately responsible for everything in our lives\u2014every increase in income and success. Just as importantly we\u2019re also responsible for every setback. I know this is really, really hard to hear, especially if you\u2019re not where you want to be and it seems like the whole world is against you, but we have no one to point fingers at, but ourselves and here\u2019s why.<\/p>\n

Everything we have in our life exists because of the actions, behaviors, habits, words, and thoughts that we have. Every decision we make creates our circumstances and because of that we are ultimately responsible for every success, failure, happiness, unhappiness, financial situation, everything. Every day, every minute and in every moment of our business and our personal life there is a fork in the road and we have a choice. We can continue to do things as we\u2019ve always done them or we can take a different path.<\/p>\n

We create our current reality with every action we take and also with every action we do not take or everything we do not implement. It\u2019s 50\/50. For years I have kept an article by Brian Tracy close to my heart. If you\u2019re not familiar with him yet he\u2019s one of the world\u2019s authorities on personal and business success. This article has become one of my favorites and I refer to it often. I even ask my clients to read it. You can Google the article by searching for \u2018Brian Tracy personal responsibility\u2019. You\u2019re going to love it.<\/p>\n

In the article, Brian talks about the fact that personal responsibility goes hand in hand with success, achievement, motivation, happiness and self-actualization. This is everything. It\u2019s the ultimate minimum requirement for the accomplishment of everything you could ever really want in life. Accepting that you are completely responsible for yourself and your results and realizing that no one else is coming to the rescue is the beginning of peak performance.<\/p>\n

The opposite of accepting personal responsibility is making excuses and blaming people and things for what\u2019s going on in your life. Since everything we do is a matter of habit, if people get into the habit of making excuses they also get into the habit of avoiding responsibility.<\/p>\n

Listen, I\u2019ve been there. The reason I can talk about this is because I have been that resentful, comparing person.<\/p>\n

You have heard the saying, \u201cSpeak the truth and the truth will set you free.\u201d Well, in this case I want you to be very honest with yourself in answering some questions that I have for you. Ready?<\/p>\n

Have you ever blamed someone or something for the fact that you haven\u2019t yet achieved what you wanted in your life or in your business?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Do you sometimes use excuses like \u201cI don\u2019t have time or I don\u2019t have money,\u201d so that you don\u2019t have to take action in terms of getting clients? Perhaps you even use excuses just in case it doesn\u2019t work out and then you don\u2019t have to be embarrassed?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Have you harbored any resentment towards someone or something because you feel like you were gypped in some way? Are you pointing fingers saying, \u201cThis is the reason that I\u2019m not making more money in my business?\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

Have you compared yourself to someone else more financially successful than you currently are? Have you judged that person based on their success.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

These are important questions that you MUST ask yourself when taking personal responsibility so that you are 100 percent clear about seeing where it is that you might be able to make the necessary improvements and adjustments in your business and mindset<\/a>.<\/p>\n
