The recent news that Zeek Rewards<\/strong> had closed it doors this past week sent shock waves through the network marketing<\/a> and biz opp industry. Now that the dust is starting to settle, here are a few things you can do now so you don\u2019t get burned in your next (or current) business opportunity.<\/p>\n

The situation with Zeek Rewards<\/em> closing its doors in not unique in our industry.\u00a0 Companies, for one reason or another, close their doors leaving customers, distributors and investors holding the bag.\u00a0 Is it fair? No. Did people get hurt? Yes. But it\u2019s just business. But there are things you can do to protect yourself from getting hurt the next time you decide to jump into a business or opportunity.<\/p>\n

Affiliates and distributors often times put their hearts and souls into a particular product, service or company only to be disappointed when the company quits on them, leaving them holding the bag.<\/p>\n

Shocked and confused, the surviving distributors are left to themselves to figure out what to do. They oftentimes find themselves alone in an ocean of other \u201copportunity seekers\u201d and quickly become shark bait for all the other predatory opportunists who start pitching them on \u201cthe next big thing.\u201d\u00a0 Many teams start to disintegrate as their associates and affiliates are \u201clost at sea\u201d to other opportunities.<\/p>\n

Now I don\u2019t know if this has happened to\u00a0 you, but I have been there, done that and bought the t-shirt!\u00a0 Yep.\u00a0 I have spent months building a down line in another program, only to see them disappear when the companies closed shop. It wasn\u2019t any fun! And I won\u2019t make that same mistake again.<\/p>\n

The biggest mistake people make is that they promote the program, the business or the opportunity, but never got around to promoting themselves as a leader, serving their people.\u00a0 People get started with a company to get what they want, but they stay with it because of the people they want to work with.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

A Zeek Rewards Servant-Leader<\/h2>\n

I will give a classic example.\u00a0 I know of one Zeek Rewards leader who build a strong following by leading with value and providing training and support for his people.\u00a0 He was there for his team and his people knew it.\u00a0 When Zeek Rewards collapsed, he was in constant contact with his team on SKYPE, doing webinars and putting up recorded voice calls, providing them with instant updates as soon as he had them. His people were in the know. . .\u00a0 not in the dark. Because of this, his people put their trust in HIM, not in the opportunity. No one can come along and pull them away because they will follow their leader into his next opportunity.<\/p>\n

So what should you do?\u00a0 First of all, make the decision that everything you do from this point on promotes YOU first. Build a team, not someone\u2019s else\u2019s company. That way if someone pulls the plug on your opportunity, you still have the relationships you built, instead of a bag of unused bids that suddenly became worthless overnight. When you create the relationships first, the down lines will follow.<\/p>\n

Lesson Learned From Zeek Rewards:
\nDon\u2019t Put All Your Eggs In One Basket<\/h3>\n

The sad scenario I have hearing over and over again is that for some Zeek Rewards affiliates, this was their only source of income.\u00a0 Their lives are being turned upside down because the money tree has died and they do not know what they are going to do next.<\/p>\n

The first time this happened to me I resolved never to put all my eggs in one basket and set out to develop multiple streams of income.\u00a0 That way, if one goes away it may hurt for a little bit, but you know you have several other sources of income still coming in, as you continue to build more for the future.<\/p>\n

The Solution<\/h2>\n
