Sometimes we just need to hear something that jogs our minds, gets us back on track. That\u2019s what The Winning Minute is about.<\/p>\n
I first got the idea for The Winning Minute back in my \u2018corporate life.\u2019 I had just returned from a week-long training event in Denver with upper level IT managers. Determined to keep them focused and inspired, I sent a department-wide email every morning containing value-based and inspiring tidbits I had captured from the training sessions we had all attended.<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/p>\n
Wouldn\u2019t you say that in most situations, you already know what to do in your business? The problem is distraction, interruption, confusion, fatigue, inconsistency\u2013the list goes on. You just need some kind of compass to point you back in the right direction.<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/p>\n
As an entrepreneur now, I recently noticed that the same problems kept creeping in to my business. Usually in the morning. It was almost predictable. So, using what I learned from a multimillion-dollar productivity coach (whose training I had devoured) I jotted down a plan that goes something like this:<\/p>\n
\n\u201cWhen this<\/em> happens, I\u2019ll do that<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
It became a principle I operated by. My MO, perhaps.<\/p>\n

The Winning Minute in The Morning<\/span><\/h2>\n
I\u2019m not a morning person. At all. In fact, there\u2019s a pretty good chance that any time I wake up, I\u2019m in a bad mood. (At least \u2018cranky.\u2019 It\u2019s not that I am ungrateful\u2013I\u2019m generally optimistic\u2013it\u2019s more of a physical thing. It takes me an hour or two to really wake up.)<\/p>\n

This is not a good trait for someone who reports to herself. (I\u2019m far too easy on the staff\u2026) So to prevent a slow start (or worse, an unproductive day) I started using The Winning Minute on myself.<\/p>\n

I didn\u2019t want to let my moods ruin my performance. I decided to record messages to myself that I knew would help me confront my most common obstacles: writer\u2019s block, discouragement, distraction by tasks that don\u2019t produce income, things weren\u2019t really part of my plan or mission, lack of focus or the famous \u201cshiny object syndrome\u201d where I chase any new quick fix idea instead of continuing on my consistent path.<\/p>\n
