What is GMO? Genetically Modified Organisms.<\/strong> I got this cool GMO candy<\/em> infographic from\u00a0The GIVE Project\u00a0on Facebook (they have a ton of other cool information too). They have put together this infographic displaying some of the most popular candy that is given away to children who trick or treat on Halloween. This year, please be informed and aware of what you are giving to the children as treats. All of the candies displayed in the infographic contain Genetically\u00a0Modified Organisms (GMOs) \u2014 Please be sure to share this information with your friends so they can be aware and informed.<\/p>\n I have a confession<\/strong>, I did not take my kiddos trick or treating this year (and never have in all of their young lives) for a few reasons; Thing is, I\u2019m not trying to hide Halloween and GMO candy from them, I\u2019ve just taken a stand for not \u2018pushing them into it.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n They will have plenty of years in the future to be naturally exposed to it and there will be little I can do about it. But why now? At such a young age?<\/p>\n Check out what the FoodBabe has to say about GMO\u2019s in our food \u00a0\u2013 she is taking it to Washington D.C.<\/p>\n There are plenty of healthier options out there for for our children, substituting GMO candy, that are \u00a0just as tasty. Just search \u00a0\u2019natural candy stores online\u2019.<\/p>\n Below is another info graphic for non-GMO candy<\/strong> also put together by \u00a0The GIVE Project\u00a0on Facebook. Choose the healthier options of non-gmo candy. \nWhen a gene from one organism is purposely moved to improve or change another organism in a laboratory, the result is a genetically modified organism (GMO). It is also sometimes called \u201ctransgenic\u201d for transfer of genes. Gross right?!<\/p>\n
\n– They are only 2 and 4
\n– Halloween is really a time for kids to beg for candy, men to dress like women, and women to dress like hookers<\/em> (I hope you are laughing at that, but really it\u2019s true when you take a close look at it. )
\n– The actual creatures and scary monsters, scare my children. I don\u2019t want to expose them to that or anything about Halloween \u2018on purpose.\u2019<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\nBack to GMO candy\u2026..<\/h3>\n
