It was amazing! I could argue that I didn’t even know there were a thousand young adult Christians in New York City, nevermind there being a single place with more than a thousand gathered in one evening.

It certainly didn’t hurt that there were a bunch of fine ladies in the building!

But more importantly than that, God was definitely in the building!

The preacher was a young man by the name of Rich Wilkerson Jr. Pastor Wilkerson is the young adult Pastor of a young adult ministry in Tampa, Florida, where I believe they have over 1000 young adults in their ministry as well. He was funny, entertaining and relevant.

Pastor Rich Wilkerson Jr

What I Learned at Transitions Ministry

He preached from Mark Chapter 2, the story of the paralyzed man that Jesus healed. A group of men were so determined to get this paralyzed man to Jesus that they went to the roof of the house that Jesus was staying at and brought the man down from above.

One of the most powerful quotes he shared during his sermon was as follows:

God doesn’t call the qualified. He qualifies the called.

As a man going through some tough times in my life right now, I definitely question whether I’m qualified for God to use me. When you are finally starting to make progress in life and ministry, just to get completely knocked down by life and starting from square one, like I have recently, you definitely wonder whether God could ever use somebody like that.

However, the scriptures are filled with example after example of people who clearly wasn’t qualified by mans standards, but who God qualified and used for His glory. So it really doesn’t matter what I lack or do not lack. As long as I am willing to be used by Him, I was reminded that God can still use me anyway.

I was also reminded of the need for determination. These men were successful because they had faith and they were committed to their goal. It certainly wasn’t convenient to try and get their friend to Jesus. However, it was certainly worth it when Jesus was able to heal their friend.

In life serving God certainly isn’t going to be convenient However, I definitely believe that it is worth it.

So did Transitions Ministry live up to the hype? I can say yes it did! I enjoyed myself, was blessed by the experience and will make sure that this is not the last event that I attend.

To learn more about Transitions Ministry, you can follow them on their Facebook page.

I really love God and I love writing about my thoughts about God and ministry.
