In this post I wanted to post a quick video tutorial on setting up a Facebook Group page. I found this video on YouTube and thought it did a nice job of covering the basics.\u00a0Since I was setting up a group page myself I thought it might be helpful to share with others. For most people the setting up of a Facebook group page is a task that doesn\u2019t require much skill. However, I find that I over look things at times and I usually catch something from watching someone else do a task they have done enough to want to record a video about.<\/p>\n
Depending on the purpose of the group you are setting up, it is a good idea to spend some time thinking through your reason for forming the group, to be sure the name and the setting you choose line up with that purpose.
Here are a few other guidelines I found to be helpful:<\/p>\n
Use YOUR name and YOUR picture<\/em> \u2013 Put YOUR name in the title and use a picture of yourself so that people can quickly and easily identify who you are and what your purpose is. You should always focus on people who have joined and those thinking about joining being able to quickly and easily recognize you.<\/p>\n Don\u2019t allow SPAM in the group<\/em> \u2013 Remove SPAM immediately. State clearly the rules of your group. The more the anti-SPAM rules are enforced the more that your group members will respect you and your\u00a0advice to them. Members will appreciate the anti-SPAM rules and want to help keep the group free of\u00a0spammy links and comments and remove them As Soon As Possible.<\/p>\n In your group description create a Call To Action<\/em> to join your Facebook group and tell them\u00a0where they can do that. \nNo one cares about groups that are just a bunch of people posting links to their blog posts or other websites\u00a0all day. They are looking for some value, like minded people willing to share their knowledge and experience with others in the group.<\/p>\n
\nWhen someone posts their blog \u00a0leave a comment that sparks the conversation.\u00a0Ask Questions \u2013
\n(Example: Why did you create particular\u00a0this post? What challenges did you face? What advice do you have for someone else that might want to do what you have done?)<\/p>\n
\nLog in often, give positive feedback, ask follow up questions, ask others to leave their views and insights, ask others to Like the comment if they agree.<\/p>\n
