While very few people are able to reason, there is a reason for everything\u2014even for Satan. Through Yasha\u2019yahuw, Yahowah tells us that He created evil, and in the first book of the Towrah, God demonstrates why. Bad must exist for us to have the opportunity to choose good. And for that choice to be credible, an Adversary must exist to be its champion. If everything were wonderful, if all of life were sunshine and joy, no one would have a reason to rebel against Yah or separate themselves from His love.<\/p>\n

Halal ben Shachar, better known as Satan, is a created spiritual being. He was part of the command and control structure Yahowah calls malak<\/em> or \u201cmessengers.\u201d As we move out of Genesis and into Isaiah, you will discover what caused Halal and his fellow demons to be expelled from Yah\u2019s service. But that\u2019s less important now than what he did\u2026<\/p>\n

\u201cThe serpent<\/strong> (nahas<\/em> \u2013 snake, viper, and poisonous cold-blooded reptile) was, is, and will be<\/strong> (hayah<\/em> \u2013 exists as) reasonable and cunning<\/strong> (\u2018aruwm<\/em> \u2013 shrewd, subtle, and sensible, prudent and judicious, clever, circumspect and cautious, perceptive, elusive and obscure, a highly skilled sagacious expert who is mischievous, abusive, and dangerous, even piercing) more<\/strong> than<\/strong> (min<\/em>) any<\/strong> (kol<\/em>) living thing<\/strong> (chayah<\/em> \u2013 life form) relative to<\/strong> (\u2018asher<\/em> \u2013 in relation to) the open field<\/strong> (sadeh<\/em> \u2013 expanse of land [i.e., outside the Garden]) that Yahowah <\/strong>(efei), God <\/strong>(\u2018elohym<\/em>), had made<\/strong> (\u2018asah<\/em>). He <\/strong>[Satan] said<\/strong> (\u2018amar<\/em> \u2013 told and claimed) to<\/strong> (\u2018el<\/em>) the woman and wife<\/strong> (\u2018isah<\/em>), \u2018Indeed<\/strong> (ky<\/em> \u2013 surely, truly, and clearly), so what if<\/strong> (\u2018ap<\/em> \u2013 even if, by contrast on the other hand, nevertheless) God<\/strong> (\u2018elohym<\/em> \u2013 the Mighty One) said<\/strong> (\u2018amar<\/em> \u2013 claimed and told you) not to<\/strong> (lo\u2019<\/em>) eat<\/strong> (\u2018akal<\/em> \u2013 consume food) from<\/strong> (min<\/em>) any<\/strong> (kol<\/em>) tree<\/strong> (\u2018ets<\/em>) in the protected garden enclosure<\/strong> (gan<\/em>).\u2019\u201d<\/strong> (Bare\u2019syth<\/em> \/ In the Beginning \/ Genesis 3:1)<\/p>\n

In Revelation, Satan, which is merely a title meaning \u201cAdversary\u201d and not a name, is specifically identified as \u201cthe serpent.\u201d By using \u2018aruwm<\/em> in relation to this dark spirit, Yah is telling us that our adversary is not only \u201cshrewd,\u201d but also \u201csensible.\u201d He is \u201cclever and cunning,\u201d which means that he is \u201ctricky,\u201d even \u201csly.\u201d More important still, our adversary is \u201celusive,\u201d \u201cobscuring\u201d his role in malicious schemes. As such, don\u2019t expect an ugly fellow with horns advancing a mantra which is purely evil. He wouldn\u2019t fool anyone with such a routine.<\/p>\n

The simple statement above is comprised of two elements which collectively form the basis of every religion on earth. Lies are made credible when they are based upon something which is true. God actually said: \u201cYou may eat from any tree in the garden except don\u2019t eat from the tree of the understanding of good and evil.\u201d That is considerably divergent from the statement Satan attributed to Yahowah. In academic circles, this ploy is called \u201crevisionist history.\u201d In debate, it\u2019s called a \u201cstraw man.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Adversary\u2019s whitewash of Yahowah\u2019s Word was a clever corruption or counterfeit, which is the most effective way to convince people that a fraud is true. No one would be fooled by a pink, three-dollar bill with a picture of a rabbit riding a turtle. (Although most have no problem with \u201cIn God We Trust\u201d inscribed on a bill depicting Satan\u2019s sungod religion by way of an Egyptian pyramid and the eye of Osiris.) Simply stated, every aspect of the Babylonian religion, and thus Catholicism, was and remains a concealment, corruption, and counterfeit of something Yahowah said. One does not have to be creative to counterfeit, only \u201ccrafty and cunning, shrewd and sensible.\u201d From Babylon to the present day, this singular strategy has deceived more people and caused more harm than all other ploys combined.<\/p>\n

Created without freewill, I don\u2019t think Satan possesses the capacity for creativity. His only trick is to beguile by concealing, corrupting, and counterfeiting something God conceived and created. (For those who may be confused, there is a difference between choice and freewill. For example, the military is a command and control institution and thus soldiers do not have the freedom to refuse an order. As with Halal, those who choose to rebel are punished and drummed out of the corp. Those without freewill cannot choose their own destiny.)<\/p>\n

Moving on, the second element of the Adversary\u2019s plot to mislead Chawah was to say: \u201cso what if God said something. What gives Him the right to make the rules?\u201d Today, this ploy forms the basis of Catholicism\u2019s condemnation of those who are \u201cSola Scriptoria.\u201d Popes consider themselves authorized to alter, even completely change, God\u2019s directions. In Socialist Secular Humanism, man claims god never existed, making mankind the ultimate authority, and thereby rendering Yahowah\u2019s message moot. In Islam, Allah was modeled after Satan, so everything Yahowah said was simply contradicted. Rabbis were especially cunning, openly claiming Yah\u2019s authority for themselves.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo what if God set the Sabbath apart, we want Friday, or Sunday, or the weekend,\u201d as the case may be. \u201cSo what if God summoned us to observe the seven Miqra\u2019ey, we prefer Easter, Ramadan, Hanukah, or May Day.\u201d \u201cSo what if God chose the name Yahowah, we prefer Mother Nature, Evolution, Ha Shem, Allah, Jesus, Jehovah, or the Lord.\u201d<\/p>\n

As you travel along life\u2019s way, and you confront a tradition or teaching that is somehow attributed to God, ask yourself: Has God said this?<\/em> Or is what is being claimed an alteration, a corruption or counterfeit, of something God actually stated? In the process of fooling Chawah, Satan exposed a test we can use to avoid being fooled ourselves.<\/p>\n

Lingering a bit longer on this verse, I find it interesting that most English bible translations render Genesis 3:1 as a question even though there is no interrogatory in the Masoretic text. As a statement, Satan\u2019s line suggests that the Adversary isn\u2019t interested in soliciting mankind\u2019s opinions. He is much better informed and smarter than we are. He isn\u2019t interested in small talk or companionship, either. Satan is simply inferring that God\u2019s instructions don\u2019t matter. He is saying what Catholicism and Judaism have now inferred.<\/p>\n

However, there is the possibility that the interrogatory was removed by Masoretic rabbis in order to make the statement better reflect their own doctrine. The 4QGen Qumran scroll renders the text: \u201c<\/strong>Did God really<\/strong> say<\/strong> not to<\/strong> eat<\/strong> from<\/strong> any<\/strong> tree<\/strong> in the garden?\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

Regardless of format, in debate parlance, Satan has set up a straw man. Since he knows that he cannot prevail on the merits of his case, on evidence and reason, he has misrepresented God, and thereby presented a foe he can defeat. While \u201ccrafty and cunning, shrewd and tricky,\u201d the tactic is pragmatic because most people only know enough to be dangerous, and they are incapable of disciplined reasoning.\u00a0 Every time I engage a Muslim in debate, for example, this is also their first ploy. And it\u2019s effective because there are too few informed and logical people around to properly identify and judge the obvious chicanery.<\/p>\n

Chawah started off well. She relied on the Word to defeat Satan. But then as Catholics and Muslims do today, she added her own embellishments and lost her way. \u201cThe wife and woman<\/strong> (\u2018isah<\/em>) said<\/strong> (\u2018amar<\/em>) to<\/strong> (\u2018el<\/em>) the serpent<\/strong> (nahas<\/em> \u2013 poisonous snake), \u2018We can eat<\/strong> (\u2018akal<\/em>) the fruit<\/strong> (pari<\/em> \u2013 crop and harvest) from<\/strong> (min<\/em>) the trees<\/strong> (\u2018es<\/em>) in the protected garden enclosure<\/strong> (gan<\/em>), but<\/strong> (wa<\/em>) from<\/strong> (min<\/em>) the fruit<\/strong> (pari<\/em>) of the tree<\/strong> (\u2018ets<\/em>) which relationally<\/strong> (\u2018asher<\/em>) is in the middle<\/strong> (tawek<\/em> \u2013 center and midst) of the sheltered enclosure<\/strong> (gan<\/em>), God<\/strong> (\u2018elohym<\/em> \u2013 the mighty one) said<\/strong> (\u2018amar<\/em>), \u201cDo not<\/strong> (lo\u2019<\/em>) eat<\/strong> (\u2018akal<\/em>) from this one<\/strong> (huw\u2019<\/em>), don\u2019t<\/strong> (lo\u2019<\/em>) even touch<\/strong> (naga\u2019<\/em> \u2013 make contact with) it<\/strong> (huw\u2019<\/em>), lest<\/strong> (pen<\/em>) you die<\/strong> (muwth<\/em>).\u201d\u2019\u201d<\/strong> (Bare\u2019syth<\/em> \/ In the Beginning \/ Genesis 3:2-3)<\/p>\n

God did not say anything about \u201ctouching\u201d the fruit, only that its consumption would lead to death. Chawah, with freewill, and thus the capacity for creativity, fashioned a rule which God did not delineate. Catholic prayers to Mary and the Mass are more modern examples.<\/p>\n

It is interesting, however, that pen,<\/em> meaning \u201clest,\u201d is from panah<\/em>, which means \u201cto turn away.\u201d And that genuinely is the point of all of this. Chawah\u2019s augmentation was based upon an important nugget of truth. Evil leads us away from God and that in turn leads to death. Apart from God there is no life.<\/p>\n

The reason that Yah didn\u2019t instruct us \u201cnot to touch the understanding of evil\u201d is because to refute it, we must know it, and to know it, we must examine it closely. For example, in Prophet of Doom<\/em>, I exposed and condemned Islam, proving the religion was a complete sham, based entirely upon what its five oldest scriptural sources revealed. While the information contained in these books was repulsive and deadly, I had to thumb through the rubbish and endure the stench to do the job. However, I didn\u2019t ingest anything Muhammad and Satan in the guise of Allah had to say.<\/p>\n

In reply, the Adversary relied on a half truth. Death has two phases. Our bodies and souls are both corruptible and therefore mortal but they don\u2019t fail concurrently. \u201cBut<\/strong> (wa<\/em>) the venomous reptile<\/strong> (nahas<\/em> \u2013 serpent and poisonous snake) said<\/strong> (\u2018amar<\/em>) to<\/strong> (\u2018el<\/em>) the woman and wife<\/strong> (\u2018isah<\/em>), \u2018You shall not die<\/strong> (muwth<\/em>) a physical death<\/strong> (muwth<\/em> \u2013 be assassinated or killed).\u2019\u201d <\/strong>(Bare\u2019syth<\/em> \/ In the Beginning \/ Genesis 3:4) That was true up to a point. And that is what made Satan\u2019s deception credible. Outright lies seldom fool anyone. But when truth is twisted, when the counterfeit resembles the genuine article, it\u2019s beguiling.<\/p>\n

Islam, Catholicism, and Mormonism are effective because they have piled their lies on top of Yahowah\u2019s Word, concealing the truth. This gives them credibility they wouldn\u2019t otherwise engender and at the same time precludes most people from posing the most effective argument against them. If a religion contradicts that which it derives its authority, it cannot be true. It\u2019s as simple as this: If Yahowah\u2019s Word is true, religions like Catholicism, Islam, and Mormonism which contradict Scripture cannot be true. If Yahowah\u2019s Word is not true, religions which claim it is divinely inspired, and which garner their authority from it, as Mormonism, Islam, and Catholicism do, are false. While this simple logical exercise renders all three religions false, something any informed and rational person will immediately recognize, the false dogmas prevail because very few people are informed or rational.<\/p>\n

So Satan responded, enticing Chawah: \u201cBecause truly<\/strong> (ky<\/em> \u2013 rather surely), the Mighty One<\/strong> (\u2018elohym<\/em> \u2013 God) knows<\/strong> (yada\u2019<\/em> \u2013 is aware and acknowledges, relationally recognizes) that indeed<\/strong> (ky<\/em>) in<\/strong> (ba<\/em>) the day<\/strong> (yowm<\/em>) you eat<\/strong> (\u2018akal<\/em>) from<\/strong> (min<\/em>) it, your<\/strong> (\u2018atem<\/em>) eyes<\/strong> (\u2018ayn<\/em>) will be opened<\/strong> (paqah<\/em> \u2013 will see and understand, perceive, judge, and decide) and you will exist<\/strong> (hayah<\/em> \u2013 be) like<\/strong> (ka<\/em> \u2013 similar to) God<\/strong> (\u2018elohym<\/em>), knowing, being aware of and acknowledging<\/strong> (yada\u2019<\/em> \u2013 recognizing, discerning, discriminating, distinguishing, experiencing, and respecting) good<\/strong> (towb<\/em> \u2013 that which is festive, pleasing, prosperous, and beautiful) and bad<\/strong> (ra\u2019<\/em> \u2013 evil, that which is fierce and sad, morally impure, harmful and distressing).\u201d<\/strong> (Bare\u2019syth<\/em> \/ In the Beginning \/ Genesis 3:5)<\/p>\n

Up to this point, all Adam and Chawah \u201cwere aware of, recognized, experienced, acknowledged, and knew\u201d was Yahowah and the sheltered enclosure He had created for them. Everything was \u201cgood, festive, pleasing, prosperous, and beautiful.\u201d Until evil\u2019s advocate slithered into the garden, they had no knowledge whatsoever of anything \u201cbad, fierce, sad, morally impure, harmful, or distressing\u201d\u2014even deadly. Eden was paradise after all\u2014the place of \u201cgreat joy, delight, ultimate pleasure, extreme satisfaction and luxury, a favorable state of overwhelming gladness.\u201d So, it was true that by eating the fruit Chawah would add an awareness of evil and suffering to those pleasant things she already knew and had experienced. But since she had already experienced everything good, the implied benefit was bogus. Satan was adding a negative, diminishing the sum.<\/p>\n

The bottom line to all of this is that an awareness of that which is bad, evil, sad, distressing, and harmful destroys paradise and precludes someone from living with a perfect God. And this is why Yahowah no longer remembers our sins once we are forgiven. They are forgotten. It is why a new universe will be created, a perfect one, at the end of the Millennial Sabbath. In the realm of immortality, there is no benefit to knowing something which is distressful or harmful.<\/p>\n

Moreover, Adam and Chawah were already like God\u2014so this too was a half truth designed to beguile. At the conclusion of the sixth day, after having created animal life, \u201cGod said, \u2018Let us produce<\/strong> \u2018Adam\/man<\/strong> in our image<\/strong> (tselem <\/em>\u2013 resemblance, pattern, and model; from an unused root meaning shade), after our likeness<\/strong> (damuwth<\/em> \u2013 similitude and manner; from damah<\/em>, meaning comparable, resembling, and with imagination and thinking).\u201d <\/strong>(BaRe\u2019syth<\/em> \/ In the Beginning \/ Genesis 1:26)<\/p>\n

Tselem<\/em> is \u201ca two or three dimensional painted or sculptured representation of something larger.\u201d Shade is a two dimensional representation of the three dimensional object between it and the source of the light. Damuwth<\/em> is \u201ca comparison or likeness in the form of an image.\u201d It is \u201ca builder\u2019s draft or sketch, a graphic representation for a future building or other construct.\u201d Just as a mirror reflects our image and a shadow represents our shape in one less dimension, we were fashioned to be fewer dimensions than God. He is eternal in time, the fourth dimension. We are not, at least apart from Him.<\/p>\n

Completing the thought, in the next sentence, God revealed: \u201cSo God<\/strong> created<\/strong> \u2018Adam<\/strong> (\u2018adam \u00ad<\/em>\u2013 man) in His<\/strong> image<\/strong> (tselem <\/em>\u2013 resemblance, pattern, and model; from an unused root meaning shade), in the<\/strong> image<\/strong> (tselem<\/em>) of God, He<\/strong> created<\/strong> him.<\/strong> Male and female, He created<\/strong> them.\u201d <\/strong>(Bare\u2019syth<\/em> \/ In the Beginning \/ Genesis 1:27)<\/p>\n

And while most incorrectly believe that the following verse is about having children, it\u2019s actually about closing the gap between our three and a half dimensional realm and Yahowah\u2019s seven, increasing to become as exceedingly great as God. It is the essence of His purpose and plan. It is why He bowed down to us in love. \u201cAnd God knelt down next to them <\/strong>(barak<\/em> \u2013 adoring and blessing them, greeting them in love and lifting them up), saying to them, \u2018Be fruitful <\/strong>(parah <\/em>\u2013 flourish, be productive, increase) and multiply <\/strong>(rabah<\/em> \u2013 become exceedingly great and numerous, being enlarged, reaching a very high point).\u2019\u201d <\/strong>(Bare\u2019syth<\/em> \/ In the Beginning \/ Genesis 1:28) There is nothing greater than being adopted into Yahowah\u2019s family and inheriting all that is His.<\/p>\n

As His children, after making them in His image, Yahowah had given Adam and Chawah everything that was good. All that remained was evil, harmful, distressing, and deadly. But by twisting Yah\u2019s words Satan played to our ego, to jealousy\u2014to our self-centered pride and covetousness. It was the same failing which had gotten a once useful spiritual messenger thrown out and cast down, excluded from Yah\u2019s family. Now he wanted man to endure the same fate he had brought upon himself.<\/p>\n

As a result of the misleading statements and half truths, Chawah began to see things from a different perspective. \u201cThe woman and wife<\/strong> (\u2018isah<\/em>) looked and saw<\/strong> (ra\u2019ah<\/em> \u2013 viewed and perceived) that indeed<\/strong> (ky<\/em> \u2013 surely and truly) the tree\u2019s<\/strong> (\u2018ets<\/em>) food<\/strong> (ma\u2019akal<\/em>) was good<\/strong> (towb<\/em>), and that indeed<\/strong> (ky<\/em>) it was desirable<\/strong> (ta\u2019awah<\/em> \u2013 satisfying a longing and craving) visually<\/strong> (\u2018ayn<\/em> \u2013 to the eye), and she coveted<\/strong> (hamad<\/em> \u2013 lusted for and desired) the tree\u2019s<\/strong> (\u2018ets<\/em>) insights<\/strong> (sakal<\/em> \u2013 wisdom and understanding, teaching and ability to be circumspect and prudent), so she grasped hold of<\/strong> (laqah<\/em> \u2013 accepted, received, and took) some of<\/strong> (min<\/em> \u2013 from) the fruit<\/strong> (pari<\/em>) and ate<\/strong> (\u2018akal<\/em> \u2013 consumed) it. Moreover, she immediately<\/strong> (gama\u2019<\/em> \u2013 in addition she quickly) gave<\/strong> (natan<\/em>) it to<\/strong> (la<\/em>) her husband and man<\/strong> (\u2018ish<\/em>) who was with<\/strong> (i\u2019m<\/em> \u2013 near) her and he ate.\u201d <\/strong>(Bare\u2019syth<\/em> \/ In the Beginning \/ Genesis 3:6) In addition to \u201cswiftly and additionally,\u201d gama\u2019<\/em> means \u201cto swallow\u201d and thus could imply that Chawah \u201cquickly swallowed the fruit,\u201d and \u201calso that she immediately swallowed up the distance\u201d separating her from Adam\u2014and at this point, that was considerable.<\/p>\n

It is interesting to note that Chawah made a conscious choice. She considered the evidence, and then she rendered a decision to rebel. Adam simply went along with the flow. He represents most people today. And while Adam would ultimately have his relationship with Yah reconciled, in general, most people in this situation will die rather than experience the anguish of eternal separation.<\/p>\n

Covetousness is what caused Satan to rebel against God\u2014something which is made clear in Isaiah. Giving us an insight into his fall, we see Satan beguiling Chawah into coveting what God had forbidden as well. The result was the same: separation.<\/p>\n

As you read the consequence of this choice, be aware that the protective covering of the garden is symbolic of the Set-Apart Spirit and of Her Garment of Light. The moment Adam and Chawah chose poorly, they lost this protection and thus appeared naked in God\u2019s eyes as well as their own. The Garment of Light precludes Yahowah from seeing our faults, making us appear good and not bad. And as we enter paradise, at least based upon this verse, this Garment of Light might also preclude us from seeing one another\u2019s faults.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe eyes<\/strong> (\u2018ayn<\/em>) of both<\/strong> (shanaym<\/em> \u2013 the two) of them<\/strong> (hem<\/em>) were opened<\/strong> (paqah<\/em> \u2013 enabled to see) and they<\/strong> (hem<\/em>) recognized<\/strong> (yada\u2019<\/em> \u2013 realized, acknowledged, and knew) they were indeed<\/strong> (ky<\/em> \u2013 surely and truly) naked<\/strong> (\u2018erowm<\/em> \u2013 without adequate clothing), so they sewed<\/strong> (tapar<\/em> \u2013 stitched and mended together) fig<\/strong> (ta\u2019enah<\/em>) foliage<\/strong> (\u2018aleh<\/em> \u2013 branches and leaves), making<\/strong> (\u2018asah<\/em>) them into<\/strong> (hem la<\/em>) a covering<\/strong> (hagorah<\/em> \u2013 garment).\u201d<\/strong> (Bare\u2019syth<\/em> \/ In the Beginning \/ Genesis 3:7)<\/p>\n

The \u201cfig\u201d is the symbol of a restored Yisra\u2019el. And Yisra\u2018el<\/em> means: \u201cto strive to engage and endure with God.\u201d This is the function of the Spirit\u2014something Adam and Chawah no longer possessed as they had chosen to distance themselves from God\u2019s protection.<\/p>\n

In the next verse, most English bibles are wont to render la ruwach<\/em> ha yowm <\/em>as \u201cin the cool of the day.\u201d But la<\/em> means \u201cto or toward,\u201d not in, and ruwach<\/em> means \u201cspirit,\u201d not cool. Moreover, yowm<\/em> literally means \u201cto be hot,\u201d making cool an oxymoron.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s not that the translators don\u2019t know what ruwach<\/em> means. It is correctly translated \u201cspirit\u201d on 232 of its 378 appearances. It is rendered \u201ccool,\u201d only once, here in Genesis 3:8. And, since Satan is a ruwach<\/em>, there was a spirit to be concerned about on this occasion, rendering \u201ccool\u201d a poor choice.<\/p>\n

But that is not to say that there isn\u2019t another reasonable translation for ruwach<\/em>; there is. It is \u201cwind.\u201d In fact, ruwach<\/em> is rendered \u201cwind\u201d on 92 occasions. And in the case of \u201cwind,\u201d especially as it relates to Satan since the Adversary is the Prince of the Air, he is often depicted as whirlwind or circular windstorm.<\/p>\n
