We are always taking in small bits of data from the world and interpretting the data into an understanding of how the world operates.

This happens whether we want it to or not.

So if we watch the news every night and see horror stories of people being, raped, killed, losing their homes, (or whatever is the latest fashion on the news these days), we will have an understanding of the world as a scary place where these types of things happen all the time.

If you feel like these types of things are common you will be much more likely to believe it will happen to you.

You also will be more likely to believe that the world is going to Hell in a handbasket because that is the crap they are ALWAYS selling on the news.

My two year old daughter has (unfortunately) watched quite a bit of TV. And not surprisingly, as much as we TELL her about the world she tends to believe what her kiddy shows teach her.

So she thinks jumping up and down in muddy puddles is basically the best thing ever, she talks with an English accent (sometimes), and half the time we don’t even know what she is saying until we see someone say it again on one of her shows.

She is always assimilating the input.

This is why we’ve recently decided to ditch Kid’s tv.

Because while it may be educational and convenient… we are devloping habits she will have for the rest of her life!

DoubleThink

This is absolutely the most dangerous thing in our world today.

We can logically know we are beautiful just as we are (but still hate the reflection in the mirror and feel the need to starve ourselves into “beauty”).

We can KNOW that we don’t need the latest iPhone (but still feel like it might just make our lives complete).

We can KNOW that we would love to provide a better life for our family (but still believe that rich people are assholes).

We can KNOW that there are normal people just like us who have changed their lives (and still be conditioned to believe we need to stick to the “normal” path and have a career).

What a load of bullshit.

It is these “doublethink” or internal conflicts that cause us PAIN when we think of trying to do something different with our lives.

And fear of that pain and internal conflict makes us run straight back to the comfort of accepted behaviour (staying in a job) and feeling relief!!! (And probably turning on the tv so marketers can tell us we made the right choice!)

The Doublethink Choice

Did you know you can literally Choose beliefs that serve you better??

It’s really easy.

If you understand ubiquitous assimilation, you understand that you will assimilate whatever information your brain is given, and that will create your deep subconscious beliefs (the ones that actually create your behavior).

So choose better data to give your brain.

Read books, read uplifting stories (like mine!), cancel your newspaper subscription, watch movies like Detachment, and REFUSE to be manipulated by modern media.

Turn off your tv.

You have no idea what a difference that simple act will make in your life.

And doublethink will disappear.

When your subconscious beliefs line up with your conscious beliefs and desires, YOU ARE UNSTOPPABLE!!

Like, share, and comment on this post!

Have you ever felt strongly about something, but not been able to put it into words.
