There has been quiet a debate brewing since the early 1990s between the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)<\/strong> <\/em>and the families with Autism Spectrum Disorder<\/strong><\/em> which is becoming more main stream by the hour, mainly because many feel the CDC<\/strong> <\/em>is either misleading or outright telling false information.<\/p>\n On March 29th, 2013 the CDC<\/strong> <\/em>wrote an\u00a0article\u00a0on their website under section \u201cvaccine<\/strong><\/em> safety\u201d titled \u201cConcerns about Autism<\/strong><\/em>\u201c. \u00a0Below is the first paragraph of the\u00a0article.<\/p>\n As the country\u2019s leading public health agency, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)<\/strong> is committed to protecting the health of all Americans\u2013including infants, children, and adolescents. CDC<\/strong> shares with parents and many others great concern about the number of children with autism spectrum disorders<\/strong> (ASD)<\/strong>. We are committed to understanding what causes autism,<\/strong> how it can be prevented, and how it can be recognized and treated as early as possible.<\/em><\/p>\n It continues by explaining how in 2001 the CDC<\/strong><\/em> believed to have linked Autism<\/strong><\/em> to an ingredient (thimerosal) which was\u00a0previously used as a preservative in many recommended childhood vaccines<\/strong><\/em>. Thimerosal was removed or reduced to trace amounts in all childhood vaccines<\/strong> <\/em>except for one type of influenza vaccine<\/strong><\/em>, and thimerosal-free alternatives are available for influenza vaccine<\/strong><\/em>. \u00a0Based off this information the\u00a0Institute\u00a0of Medicine and CDC made the statement which they are claiming is a scientific review that Autism is not linked to vaccinations<\/strong><\/em>.<\/p>\n Next is how they explain their test process which is also taken directly from the article.<\/p>\n The IOM also recently conducted a thorough review of the current medical and scientific evidence on vaccines<\/strong> and certain health events that may be observed after vaccination<\/strong>.
